"This is the way it is" sort of thinking. It's compilicated but basically the three characters each employ a form of 'mirror logic' where they try reversing the treatment onto the other side.

But the end means everything is gone. And it's all about trying so desperately to make that adventure last. I'm curious where the story will take things next. The "good guys" seem to have something darker going on. That vampire looking guy who reached out to Kit definitely has deeper motives at play. Meanwhile the "bad guys" have a bigger deal of trying to save the worlds by using the material from dead ones with the goal of getting the power to bring everyone back.
