you only travel the towns for the start of the mages guild, in fighters guild you just bounce between 2 towns mainly but they also just send you another town here or there. You can raise through the mages guild without casting a single spell, and the fighters guild without throwing an attack. I think its a problem of people being able to dive more into the games world when they are younger then they play another game when older and can't give the same benefit of the doubt

I think writing wise the game is permanently damaged by wanting the Rejects to both be Penal recruits and also an elite inquisitorial kill team

Its not like a huge amount of time has passed so the rejects aren't gonna change how they act and they are not expected to really act like military so there isn't training there
