4: Understanding the different type of enemies and prioritize the ones that kill you the most
5: Blocking, Pushing, Dodging, and Staggering are the life blood of combat. Melee is the fundemental of combat in this game, no class can be 100% ranged and will need to interact with melee, so knowing how to handle melee comes 1st.
6: In mission play slow if you feel pressured, the game director does run out of enemies it can spawn if you play slow

The problem people have with smite is people like to use it to stun hordes, but also do zero damage. It's best use in my experience is to stagger elite enemies and then hit 'em with a one two combo with your melee weapon over and over... So it works kind of like saltzpyre's billhook in a sense

sciers gaze has stuff that lets ya keep shooting ya shit even at 100% for a few seconds. and seers presence has 10% ability cooldown, and worth Psychkinetic aura, you get 60% ability cool down for 5 seconds, for every specialist/elite you kill.

It's basically for fucking ever, you can be SUPER obnoxious with it.

Some people have issue with smite because it can hinder some "proc on kill" effects for other classes so your teammates won't get their buffs for killing enemies, and also people complain you need to rely on your teammates to get value from it, since it does very little damage.

Elites on the other hand behave like regular enemies but have something buffed about them - either they shoot a lot more bullets, have though armor or are larger in size and do more damage - but they don't necessarily have a special mechanic to them that differentiates them from a regular enemy in behaviour
