Basically given as much independence as required for the task. So its definitely dependent on the unit and other factors. Some forge worlds may prefer more independent warriors while others will want direct control nearly all the time.

If we got one as a class id assume it would be because Hadron is sick of our failings and wants a direct agent in the field. Or we get a more military oriented tech priest who brings his own since our fleshy bodies obviously are useless to him.
