they have a baked in +5% crit and baked in run n gun to take advantage of moving during while keeping it up, as well as desperados sprint speed

i gues 76 would be the most well rounded but there's enough weapons that can easily dump something like mobility/defense/collateral/stability

yeah run and gun should just be for the stat boosts
but recoil makes more of a differnce than spread i feel and the strength buffing blessings don't require sprinting to trigger

I feel like everyone but Ogryn and a lesser extent arbite has enough stuff they can run that benefits from extra crit rate

Even when I had money, I rarely gave it to Fatshark because the FOMO shop's existence was outright hostile to me
And it gets a crit boosting blessing on top of it
It was a case of stuff that I really really really wanted, like that black leather coat for psyker, but the stuff that was just kinda cool or a bit specific —like weapons— just didn't speak to me because of the many things Fatshark did to that shop
I just didn’t like how most of the psyker cosmetics covered up my hair or added a face mask I didn’t want with the voice filter, I think there was one head piece that added a bit to the back part that I liked
Which is partly why I don’t like any of the premium head stuff for scum, I like the default goggles and the revenant mask and that’s it, not much matches that feel
Though the premium pack helmet is probably the best of all the voice changer ones
Off the top of my head, I can name:
- Rotations are stupid and don't make me more likely to spend money, because I want a specific piece and if they don't offer me the specific piece I'm not gonna camp the shop for literal weeks trying to see it finally on rotation
- Prebundled currency with pricing specifically designed to make things cost just a bit too much or leave just a little bit extra currency is another predatory tactic that I just see no necessity for myself, and I'd very much have appreciated being able to buy a variable number of aquilas
- They recolour the same models and sell them back to players at full price
- I have caught them rebundling an old cosmetic set for psyker —that costed like 800 aquilas— with a helmet and rocketing its price to 2100, nearly tripling it
In short, whoever at Fatshark that is responsible for that store can go fuck themselves, for all I care

How are people doing Havoc 40’s with hive scums? I can’t seem to get past the squishy. If I get shot on a melee build, I have to close the gap to regen. But if i’m that close, I’m in danger of being offed by just one or two hits. Statistically speaking, we are human after all, you’re gonna get hit eventually. And it isn’t so easy to recover from that on havoc. So.. how are people doing it?

I’m using needle and the map was foggy af and there was tox gas everywhere. Army of snipers effectively neutralized me from being able to peak shoot and acquire targets through the fog.

Desperado can kill a lot of anything that isn’t highly armored like a crusher, vulture gets a lot of immunity, and you have nice toughness regen with on kill or even that one blessing for spending ammo

You either play perfectly, which involves a bit of luck, die to some bullshit outside of your control, or you just play a different class. Comparing a literal glass cannon to Arb is dumb, sorry to be blunt, but Arb is arguably the most forgiving class for making mistakes, Scum is the opposite of that unless you ride wholly on Vulture's Dodge (which is probably gunna get nerfbatted)
I feel effective with my team, but it’s hard not to. We’re all splitting aggro and we’re all helping. It just feels like chip damage to scum is game ending whereas it’s whatever on everybody else. It’s recover-able. Maybe that’s not true, but it feels that way
only blessing that seems to mater is RNG for better hipfire accuracy (the irons suck, a lot)
Perks I go unyielding/reload speed, in theory you could go carapace to slightly improve crusher TTK but it still takes the same number of needles so w/e
you can kill everything if ur good enough but u dont have the tank for what he can do
or the utility
You might be able to stay alive solo a bit but not to the level of a zealot with shroud/dash and second chance
My point is designing a class that suffers from mistakes the most without feeling like it does anything insanely well as a trade off is disappointing.

don't sleep on the ability to shoot while sprinting forward, the more I actively take advantage of it the crazier it seems

No and I don’t, I can dodge. I’m rarely getting hit. My point is when I do get hit, it feels like it’s essentially game over. Sometimes the class feels really good, and sometimes it doesn’t. The moments of power feel distant from each other after playing psyker for so long
If all you're chasing is "power" then i think you'll be hardpressed to get a class better than either psyker or arbites

I think a gun vet can probably put out higher potential damage than a gun scum but gun vets can’t afford to shit out mountains of bullets like you can with desperado, they’d end up running out of ammo long before

Gun vet can burn specific targets down very quickly with teh right weapon but has downtime or limited resources, like bolter magdumps, plasma ammo (a very real resource), kraks that regenerate slowly
Meanwhile despacito DAP/shredder scum can continually blender anything short of a bulwark/crusher if it's in direct LOS

Y’all make some good points. I’m not giving up on scum, it feels very fun and it could just be a comfort thing. Feeling comfortable with your tools makes a world of a difference in gameplay outcome imo

Scavenger is a better support aura than scum’s ammo aura, but the only way a gun vet can compete with self sustain is a storm trooper build with las, desperado and pickpocket is just fucking insane

is the Alchemist penance bugged? just did a round where I spent the whole game pretty much at 3 stacks of drug abuse but gained no time towards penance
pretty sure you have no immunity in Vermintide, was strictly getting out of the hitbox, distance based
Most people got skill-issued by Scum whilst levelling up, its ok to not be comfortable with it. It is a noticeable sidestep from the design behind the rest of the classes, but thats what its designed to be; the high skill class. Arb was designed for the casual gamer, this one is not, an thats fine

you can really feel the difference between a decent scum and a good scum on your team. a decent scum does good damage and occasionally needs to be bailed out, a good scum handles everything at once and is never threatened. i don't know how they do it

The thing is, foundational dodging is something I’ve had for awhile. I can escape the hits all day, but for some on reason on scum specifically it feels like things occasionally slip through regardless. I’m not exactly sure why
the advantage of "melee" scum is that they're actually a needle pistol with infinite ammo
its super easy to build enough to be good at range as well
i think the team also matters quite a lot, because if you can make space for your scum to go nuts they just shit out damage
they play on needle pistol primarily and have a powerful backup in the form of the entire rest of their melee oriented build
The fact that you get to use your gun in every situation is the big power boost of desperado, the node for power helps a lot
(because needle pistol+pickpocket is stupid)

I run melee scum without pickpocket, I never really feel like the ammo is that tight (at least in Aurics). I use a stripped down needle pistol to sprint around and shoot hvts and then pulled out the bonk bar and go to town on whats left

Apparently that’s a case of a he duration buff only apply to melee and not ranged for some weird reason, so people are saying that the bonuses are applied when you’re dodging melee but not ranged, but you’re still locked into the dodge for longer against range
Nope, it increases linger time, so it does nothing for ranged, but gives you more leway in melee, the ranged element is largely inconsequential anyway because you're playing Scum, you can just queue up another dodge. It also gives you greater distance, so thats nice

I tried the double barrel alot of times and you really feel when something isn’t 1 shot even with both barrels, if your shot doesn’t kill your desperado is kinda just screwed. The combat shotguns seem to have a weird thing where loading a special shot still drains your reserve ammo. The basic shots work the same but you feel the individual reloads, even if popping ult can instantly refill the gun

mixing a push attack in there keeps it safe and all the cleave stuff really makes them actually work

The 9 was always my go to
the 7 is just heavy spam for single target
and heavy special for group clear
but with hyper violence on scum you can get away with h1 > light spam into hordes as itll take your damage high enough to hit full deathblows with each swing
im assuming heavy swords marks are still mostly preference tho right? none vastly outperform the other?

That's something wrong with the sound cues / proximity logic (you also mentioned the failure of the auspex scan to indicate distance with the larger or smaller dots and I thought that was a smart shout). I got some ideas for blessing for it
- enhanced concoction - Increase alt radius when you hit a taget with both primary and alt fire
- Contagion - spread tox effect to a nearby enemy on crit
Not to mention it is encouraged to run at least 1 stam curio due to the attack speed talent.
