Masteries menu next to talent tree is based on grinding the weapon (or sacrificing weapons to crafting bench). It doesn't put the ability on your weapon. It unlocks the ability to craft it onto your weapon at the crafting bench. The only random crafting left in the game is the main stat on curios, which is what you spend that one currency on basically to keep rolling until you get the one you like, and then you freely craft the remaining 3 minor stats on the curio at will.

It's not that bad, but it is perhaps the main annoyance left. You can spend the weekly contract currency to buy new random curios, until you get the main stats you like, then re-craft the minor stats as much as you want.

It's a halfway common sentiment in the community that crushers, with their doubled hit points, all carapace armor, and especially with certain havoc modifiers, are just a slog to kill sometimes, and maybe like your times, made maybe half of the weapons non-viable because they did near zero damage to crushers. Now crusher trains of like 4+, 8+, crushers is relatively common.

That's my main complaint at least about the game. Crushers all carapace, plus half the weapons just deal basically zero damage to carapace, plus the crusher spam sometimes, just means half the weapons are unviable. Meh.

Oh, did smite even exist back then? Maybe? There's still a busted smite build that gets near 100% uptime with empowered psionics doing +200% base damage. It's enough to relatively quickly wittle down hordes, and stun the whole screen, but even in experienced hands, it tends to slow down the game, and make the game super boring, and most people here hate smite with a fiery passion just because it makes the game boring.

• Rework empowered psionics smite to do something else.

He always downplays it when he tells what happened, but the reputation of Cain among everyone else is so incredibly inflated that they take it as humble hero modesty, and the more he downplays it, the more ridiculous the reputation and story of events in the public becomes. And he knows this, and does it kinda purposefully.

And the real shtick with the Cain stories is that he describes himself as a dirty coward who wants nothing more than to run away and hide, aka exactly the sort of soldier that a commissar is supposed to shoot, but he also frequently does heroic self-sacrificing acts for others, often with the excuse after the fact that "I had to do incredibly dangerous thing X because if I didn't, then I would surely die a few hours later anyway". Author purposefully says he tries to leave it ambiguous whether he's a dirty coward or a hero.

Which frequently leads to hilarious situations where Cain takes the assignment that he thinks is least dangerous, like backline duty against the ork invasion, and in that backline duty, uncovers another threat, often tyranids or necrons, thereby saving the world for the imperium, and more importantly, himself. That's the formula that most of the novels follow.

What's to say: An instant cooldown stagger and yellow toughness ability is just really, really good. Veteran also has a near endless supply of super kraks that are very useful for taking down crusher trains.

Psyker is inarguably the best class in the game if played competently. It can succeed at basically any role if you build for it. The common "strongest" build is Inferno + Shriek, which puts out an insane amount of damage on basically every enemy that isn't a Crusher. Without Shriek, Inferno is lackluster. I see a lot of mediocre Inferno + bubble psykers in Havoc.

Psyker is too tanky to be a class cannon, so you're just a cannon.

Safe, mobile, amazing damage with basically any non-smite build.

Deimos/Obscurus > Dueling Sword > FGS imo. Reason being that DS will allow you to maneuver more, and Inferno already handles the hordes FGS would bully. FGS has great single-target damage, but the lacking mobility on an already limited mobility build is gonna be rough.

If you're confident in your positioning, FGS is better than DS for sure. More versatile and better against bosses/hordes for the cost of mobility.

Deimos and Obscurus both have strong single-target damage and good mobility.
