im using numeric UIs dodge bar, it shows how long until dodges reset.
dodging, and sliding, delay its regen by resetting the counter, give me a moment to load up the game
its not directly tied to stamina

you wont be given 5 overheads to dodge at the same time

long as youre also simply moving backwards, youll regen the dodges

if you see the crusher readying an overhead, it seems to be just enough time to also regen your dodges to get a real dodge

try to get a warp resistance dumped deimos, and put carapace instead of crit on it 
puppet master is a dead node, i suggest to grab solidity instead.... and, inferno with scriers is a bad idea

infernos range is really small, shriek with creeping flames help offset that range a little bit more, as well as increase the stacks you can hit

you dont need it often in nonhavocs, but if you take it to a civi maelstrom you can get some good live practice
btw JaD might not be the best option, but the melee dmg node below scriers can be removed and slapped onto quietude for a bit more toughness regen

I actually didn't, Brainburst just took too long to kill and others would steal it before the BB could pop

I got the kill a monstrosity with 50% brainburst damage penance, and I used BB with the F skill increase with empowerd Psionics

you pop heads so fast, but its not super easy

but smykers is the ones who refuse to believe they have a weapon
even this lower difficulty you can see the numbers split, and it only gets worse the higher the difficulty

but its, smite ONLY freezes enemies
it only turns off peoples on dodge talents, it turns off the flow of the horde to feed the melee/frontline, it locks your teammates in bad positions because it overwrites shoves to the ground
that 10% damage boost from enfeeble, if they have it, doesnt come close to covering it
plus, they use it the whole match, to turn off the game for everyone else
there are proper use cases for it, but it's very seldom actually used properly
even in a melee situation, assail works better for a stun/stagger , and also does damage
smite locks you down
but, with a mister E video calling permasmite a havoc meta, the flood is going to continue

I pushed a dog near a trapper, swapped to the shotgun and shot the trapper dead, then swapped back to bonk the dog before it recovered
Every misstep from the enemy is a punishable opening 
Assail is almost annoyingly great because like. It does so much sometimes i forget I have other options until I'm out of assail shards! XD
Among other stuff too, I really just vibe with this arby build I run
I have a lot of fun with quick blitzes, fast weapon swapping and high damage shots
BTL makes me wish shriek still had the old knockdown that didn't scale with peril

Funny how a person changes: when I first started playing, I mocked psyker's shriek with "this dude's special skill is pushing people, that's so lame", only to now love anything that pushes people in this game

I loved the shriek back when I started, I like gaze, but Shriek is my first love
I think shriek was my favourite tool for bulwarks in the past because I didn't run stagger stuff like voidblast (known to the ancient as trauma)
So I'd use the low cooldown very liberally to do things like fast brain burst, push bulwarks and poxbursters, secure revives, save people from dogs through walls
I love simple tools that get these uses that make you go "damn, it could do that?"
"idk how you got the dog off me but thank you" is not uncommon in comms when i play with newer folks 
(fgs sword slash, usually, sometimes a shriek)
I make it a habit to flex arby nade saves
Guy gets pounced across the map and there I am, doing throws like the rock goats
For vet it's funny to do bounces on geometry to make it explode on a tricky spor
Arby does that a bit, but on a very short fuse

There's no fuse really, nicks a tiny bit of geometry, boom.
Being a pussy does not save you from being squished by a crusher
It does lower the chance of being hit if it's aggro'd to someone else though.

Yes, if you are rich try to get below 60%, if you are not rich and need to craft a bunch of other weapons, then 60% is fine and it can wait
60% is reccomended if newer as well, lower requires you to care for peril more.

Crafting doesnt really require luck these days compared to past. Saying as someone who hunted power sword blessing for half year until gave up and quit game.

Yeah there is some room for skill expression around buff maintenance but compare it to the work required to get voidstrike to do anything and it’s absurd how much easier and more powerful flame stick is

IMHO:
- Flame staff is probably too powerful in the current endgame with loads and loads of enemies. I think endgame will always have to involve loads of enemies. I think flame staff probably needs some kind of slight nerf, directly or indirectly. At least make the blessings on your melee weapon not apply to your preexisting flame stacks, IMHO.
- Near 100% uptime on "stun the whole screen" via smite is just not good for the game. Something needs to change around smite. For example, change it completely to some kind of instant effect ranged nuke lightning bolt. Or keep it as "stun the whole screen" with a long RMB, and quick stun with a short RMB, but give it a separate ammo regenerating ammo counter like assail.
- The cooldown node is indeed extremely powerful especially considering obese fish nerfed similar things quite hard on other classes.
- Empathic evasion is also probably too powerful.
- I disagree with him on empowered psionics. I think that a keystone that enables you to spam your blitz and make your build be about your blitz is a perfectly fine keystone. The problem is the current implementation. It's too strong with smite, and it's too weak with assail and brain burst, IMO. I think a big part of the problem is the random and unreliable nature of getting charges, and charges capping at 3, means you can't plan around it. The benefits happen at random times. I'd like to see it made into a constant effect, or at least a more reliable effect like disrupt destiny.

I think the problem is in the PUG nature of the game: You need to be able to handle it because there's no guarantee that the randos that you get will be able to handle it.

I think even with no risk and no kill pressure, 100% uptime on "stun the whole screen" is just a bad game. It makes the game boring for everyone involved. I'm not saying it's a bad strategy, but it is bad game design.

I seem to do ok with warp siphon, assail with both nodes behind it, and shriek, with malefic momentum. IMHO, on aurics maelstrom. AGain, half and half assail and sword. I don't know if it would work into havoc. Probably not.
But in the players mind its not on them because it works everywhere else

Smite is too good, mechanically. It's also boring gameplay. Offhand, I would love for smite to be able to stun the whoel screen for 5-10 seconds like it can now, but with a separate ammo counter so you can only do it every 1 minute or 2 minutes. ANd/or spend the separate ammo on lots of quicker stuns, like that annoying poxburster, or carapace.
I also mean this more from the average player pov who mostly plays heresy

IMHO, it needs to be a cool clutch utility with a longer cooldown and/or separate rengerating ammo supply (mostly equivalent to a longer cooldown), so you can save a run by clutching one bad moment here or there, but not trivializing the whole run.

I want it to be like prismatic spray or cone of fire. One conical blast, hits everything in it, x. Second hold/stagger.
Dreg seed, pox gas, loads of stims, enemies use stims, using stim gives perma buff (gas resist + myriad of bonuses inside gas)

PS: I think I would prefer my idea of a longer cooldown and/or separate regenerating ammo counter (like assail) so that smite can still do everything it can do now, but just a lot less frequently. Make it into clutch skill, instead of "I use this for everything" skill.
In particular, I would also move the damage from empowered psionics smite to the base version, and give an ammo counter to smite to make it useable (far) less frequently, and I think that could be decently healthy. Would need to do something for empowered psionics smite, but empowered psionics overall is just bad IMO and needs a tweak or rework.

a good psyker, with good map knowledge, and can keep up with the frontline, is 100% on the money... but you dont NEED a psyker
Psyker is not required, psyker is just really overpowered
you just need someone on crowd control / trashclearing, at least one frontliner, at least 2 (preferably all three non-CCers) on specialist duties, and someone with boss DPS. can be the same class in most cases
for an ideal 4man run
Separate then if you don't feel comfortable fighting them while overlapped. Force push, use terrain, barrels. Then hit them in the head really hard
Retreating into a cleared area when hard-pressed is often a good idea that I don't see people doing too often.
Good quad only needs to tick these boxes
- frontliner
- mixed horde dps
- boss dps
- specialist sniping
All 4 categories should be prioritized by at least 2 people in the team

Smite is one of few builds easier to play than Inferno + Bubble. Not that the average Inferno + Bubble psyker is particularly good.
As Psyker, I often am the frontline unless I have a solid team. 50/50 chance people are too afraid to move forward until I do.
I think there's some nuance here. A good Psyker is overpowered, inarguably. But I see so many terrible Psykers regularly. Earlier this week, one of my teams commented about how much better I was than their previous Psyker, and how he had positioned poorly while doing little damage.

Psyker, even Purgatus builds, has a decently high skill ceiling. This is why every random Psyker used Empyric Shock on Purg, because they can't position so they rely on LMB spam to staggerlock things. Then their damage is garbage.

Lately I have been swapping between EK, Trauma, and Purg, all of which with Shriek. I used Bubble once this week because I had a team that couldn't handle specials, and it wasn't enough
I think I perform best overall on EK + Shriek because I can easily kill specials
Aren't psyker players on average bad because the class is too strong, what about that approach
They don't need to learn game mechanics since they can ignore most of them

I didn't start playing Psyker until after I got Auric Storm Survivor (legitimately, and when it was the most difficult title to get; before people realized you could cheese it). I got ASS on... I think Dueling Sword + Zarona Revolver vet?

The ceiling is proper positioning, knowing when to use LMB vs RMB, understanding when you can stand and fight, knowing how to push forward for your team, covering multiple angles effectively, etc. It's not as high a ceiling as something like melee scum or a good vet--but I honestly think vet is the hardest class to play well--but it's not that low.
It's like the complete opposite of EK which has an okay floor but the ceiling on that thing is OOF
it's not the staff, it's the entire kit
the staff itself is ez mode, but if you want to utilize the entire build the celling is pretty high
most newer players fall into the classic RPG mind set and think psyker's melee is a useless token so they just spam the staff, for everything
hence where terms like purge bots come from
I hear you on the positioning but every class has to position well.
And where it gets weird is, is the team is positioning well, it does a lot of the heavy work for the psyker
So yes the psykers positioning is important but it's probably less important than other classes because your team are just going to be a wall for you unless you're going out of your way to die
Psyker positioning during bad situations is pretty difficult but they also get EE so don't get raped by ranged which is the most lethal type of units generally speaking
Also just as a disclaimer, I do not think the people who I play with are bad players by any means who use Inferno
I tend to shit on it a lot
Honestly, I kinda feel like LMB EK is easier because you can deal with threats at any range.

I did more melee damage on a staffker build than a toxin scum the other day. I was at like 130k melee damage to their... 80k?

Using Syllo as an example, he's SO aggressive that he farms more damage and it becomes a feast or famine on the scoreboard because if you're not as playing as close to death as he is, not only is he getting more damage, you're suffering because you're not even in range of the enemies

I think the simple answer to that debate is that if the team isn't all moving at a similar pace, special spawns increase and separation is easy
And even the best players struggle when separated from their team
That's why soloing is such a challenge. One mistake with no team to compensate is run-ending

I think Toxin scum is the equivalent of Inferno psyker. Safest build on a difficult but powerful class, significant impact with little risk.

But the average vet is weirdly good compared to other classes imo

Going by the average Psyker, I am not sure the skill floor is that low. Even a bubble + inferno or smite Psyker is often pretty, uh, lackluster. They follow the meta and see really good psykers, and they think the class is free wins. Then they position poorly while spamming LMB or holding RMB or holding smite and they just die. No understanding of movement or target priority. But maybe they're even less impressive on other classes, I dunno.
But I am not really one to talk, since I only consistently play Psyker and Arby at a high level.
As much as I want to be good at Scum and Vet and Zealot, I am... decent at scum, bad at the other two.
I think it's more in the sense that you can just grab something like smite and it "works"
Or you go TF2 pyro mode with the inferno staff and it also does something
that's not psyker that's the game skill floor in general
Meanwhile a zealot or an ogryn that can't do melee basics still gets consistently downed
Vet still has some of the psyker easiness by just making a shock trooper build, but at least they aim something a little bit
Psyker having weapons with a generous AoE and infinite ammo can really do someone's brain in at time

You can't make a shock trooper build early on to spam guns at everything because it's all the way down on the tree
So right from the start-ish the psyker player can already develop this bad habit of leaning onto smite for everything and it "works" because they die eventually and the player didn't lose health from the 5 poxwalkers they stunlocked in uprising
Not that the other classes don't get ridiculous, of course
Just that psyker can get silly earlier for less effort
Honestly not something I had considered, the early ease of smite. I advocate so hard for Assail until level 30 that I guess I blinded myself to the average new player experience

At level... 5? or wherever you get an upgraded blitz, maulers and crushers and such are actually raid bosses. Smite is one of few tools at that level that allow you to manage them

I like running the agri shotgun because I can countersnipe and still have a decently spammy gun for when I'm in a pickle
If you care about sniping alone, you can grab a revolver and surety of arms
Bolt pistol also works pretty well and I guess can be a middle ground between the two I named

@verbal thistle do you think Empyric Resolve is good for any Psyker Shriek or SG build? I haven't been using it outside of Bubble, and I barely use bubble anymore. The only staff I have considered using it on, really, is Trauma + Shriek.
If your aim is nice, you can chain headshots on them
With disrupt destiny, you get some nice damage
I think its really good for new players with bubble
Ill try the shotgun, revolver while nice, i would run out of ammo fast using it against Ranged infantry
Surety of arms is something I pick for the shotgun too because it's really fast to swap, load a slug and swap back to melee even mid-combat

Since removing ER from my Trauma build, I have felt immortal. Also removed EE, because the uptime is meh.
Both headshot weapons and deal some super mid bodyshot damage, but massive finesse to abuse with disrupt destiny
I personally like the bolt pistol for that sort of role on my lol t-hammer martyrdom build.
Never used it before, wasnt added at the time i was playing, is it like a middle ground between lazpistol and helbores?
The IAG people commonly use is the blue one, but that's pretty tricky to control when trying to snipe stuff across the map
Bolt pistol is somewhat small ammo count, but quicker reload than a shotgun, accurate, hits hard, good for picking off specialists and weaker elites.

I hear the revolver has better pen than the bolt pistol, which is its main advantage.
Oh yeah, and the green laspistol is great
Brown laspistol I have an infinite hatred for
and bolt pistol is quick to pull out, (unlike the clunky boltgun)
I also liked some of the shotties back in the day for the same anti-specialist duty, but just gut feelign that bolt pistol is a little better. Probably a preference thing.

I've gotten really good at timing pushes to deal with dogs even without looking at them
