Tsushima doesn't really do anything new in terms of its gameplay since it's just another very safe and trendy perfect dodge/parry, mini crafting, side quest and campaign quest, etc kind of a game. If anything, very similar to older iterations of AC and the arkham games in terms of the flow but with different steps here and there.

Within that though is a pretty heavy narrative focus on what's going on and a pretty nicely polished presentation for the visuals and music. One of the few times I actually ever agreed with a formal game's show award for art direction.

That's one of the major anchors of the direct melee combat so you'll see for yourself how you gain them and how they feel to incorporate smoothly.

The feedback is pretty good and often coinciding some stellar animation. Tsushima is kind of like old for honor in terms of its exaggerated realism.

If you know anything about Kurosawa films, tsushima heavily draws from it for its cinematography much like other stories in its spectrum. There's even a little kurosawa mode for the game's audio with that particular black and white visual unique to those film conventions rather than it just being a filter.

And then, depending on what you like to do within that system, you'll learn how the shinobi tactics you can employ are communicated.

My main problems are just how bonkers dominion truly has gotten because of balance changes and overall creep, the unpopularity of siege and tbh just how long it takes for me to get into duels and brawls with people willing to actually play out longer sets. I hate ranked because it takes even longer and for how long I've played the game, the bracket of unranked I was in back when I played a shitton basically made ranked even more irrelevant because I didn't want to climb a ladder just to be in the same tier of above average duelling I was at at that time.

Would say that I'm just a solid average player these days with better sessions than miserable slogs but all that waiting for a possible disconnect, ragequit, game crash and one-and-done sets? Eh.

As Rem said, though on an unrelated note, i would recommend Dawn Of War 2 (and Retribution which you get in the package) and Gladius as personal picks. Dawn Of War 2 (top-down strategy) is way more narrative and story driven, the world feels alive, customization is aplenty, and your decisions have weight on your results. Gladius is a 4x but i'd consider it 3, since it glosses over the diplomacy part, anyhow, the main difference besides the core gameplay is the fact that in Gladius you can play a number of factions.

gladius is truly not for everyone but for players that it hits (like myself) it just hits

Obscurus has disgusting headshot damage combos, and if you want to clear horde faster try l1 -> block cancel -> repeat. That first diagonal hits 3-4 targets and kills 2-3 if it connects. You can set up a weapon swap macro if you want to l1 -> weapon swap gun -> weapon swap back to sword -> l1, which is faster between swings, but ehh not needed

illisi is big horde clear, small armor counter last I checked

Take smite and EP but never use smite and kill things with EK RMB. EK RMB counts for the kills needed, butit doesn't consume the EP stack. So every elite or special kill counts.

Like zealot or ogryn, hell even vet are good for the 120 enemies in 30 secs, my smite psyker got that instead lol

The higher the difficulty the more enemies there are for smite to bounce and make effective and can lead to some pretty crazy screens, one time I didnt even know there was gunners around a corner but because of the bounce it killed a good 13 gunners lol

Its literally done the most crowd dps with smite then any other bulid, and yes I do use some meta builds yet my smite one just works idkh

Bonus if theres rotten armor as they suck ass to kill but I keep crushers stunned and kill the others
