Does the inferno staff apply soulblaze to bulkwarks even with its charged attack? I always assumed it deflected it fully since you get blue hit markers but I've seen people saying that the soulblaze effect applies it's just that the direct damage gets blocked

ripe obsidian
#

I believe so. Would have to check to confirm

#

I have no idea what I would look at in the code to confirm, so it will likely need to wait until I am at my PC

#

So we have

hitzone_damage_multiplier = {
        default = {
            [hit_zone_names.shield] = 0,
        },
#

But since Soulblaze doesn't use a hitzone, that affects nothing with its damage

#

Gotta figure out how the projectile works

#

Inferno also does not have this, which is on EK's RMB:

ignore_hitzone_multiplier = true

#

Nor does Inferno have:

ignore_shield = true

#

So my best guess without testing is that the shield does block direct damage.

#

But since the projectile is still hitting them, it is still applying Soulblaze

strong gulch
#

You can apply SB with inferno to bulwarks if they are blocking. They have feet and limbs stick out.

ripe obsidian
#

You should be able to apply it through the shield as far as I can tell. But I could be missing sumfin

#

I don't know if a shield blocking inferno stops dots from applying

#
ActionFlamerGas._is_unit_blocking = function (self, unit, player_pos, hit_zone_name_or_nil)
    local shield_extension = ScriptUnit.has_extension(unit, "shield_system")

    if shield_extension then
        return shield_extension:can_block_from_position(player_pos, hit_zone_name_or_nil)
    end
end
#

This seems definitive. I believe inferno uses this template.

# kindred fog the Beloved seems to know too much ancient knowledge such as the Emperor being a...

Yeah, I agree. Seer's Beloved has some deep lore knowledge that very few people know and a daemon probably wouldn't share even if it did know. I mean, stuff like, "My Beloved wants you to know what happened on Cadia wasn't your fault" is very empathetic for a daemon. There are also loads of lines about life on Terra, the Emperor's intents, and so on.

Though they also have:

"Sometimes I dream of an Impossible Fortress, floating on a sea of pink fire! A voice calls out to me, and it sounds so like my beloved I almost follow."

And

"We've all dreamed of the Impossible Fortress, with its twisting spires of formless crystal. Haven't we? Haven't we?!"

Seer can also, rarely, comment on the combat music starting when they get into battle or reference doing the same mission multiple times. They're knocking on the fourth wall. Maybe the playerbase is their Beloved. After all, they say stuff like, "Yes, Beloved, a medicae station" when you ping.

acoustic jacinth
# frigid charm Given I don't run Havoc, would switching this over to Venting Shriek work?

It certainly would but i still would not recommend it. I carefully fitted every talent here to work closely together. And especially on lower difficulties, with EK staff you'll be able to nuke elites/specialists so no worries man. No one is stealing your siphon stacks! You can also run voidstrike with this, it can work but the build was made with elektrokinetic in mind.

Sennheisers are always peak man. Right now, i'm on vacation so i have my JBL Reflect Aero TWS with me

#

Easy to carry around, give me the kick i need

#

Since to be honest, i am a little addicted, i listen to music a lot every day at this point

ripe obsidian
#

There are significantly worse addictions

acoustic jacinth
#

True that

ripe obsidian
#

An ex of mine once said that she thought I would go insane without music playing daily

acoustic jacinth
#

Ah

#

I mean, i absolutely love music but yknow, self control

#

It's a little difficult to explain but like

#

As long as i can do it, i'll keep doing it, if i can't, not the end of the world, i'll just miss it of course, it's a good part of me

ripe obsidian
#

If and when I have the time, money, and motivation, I would love to put together a listening room. Probably have it double as, like, a living room because I don't think I will ever afford a house with enough space otherwise.

acoustic jacinth
#

Yeah it's absolutely sick

#

You could just install a great sorround sound audio system on your living room, connected to your tv

#

It's affordable and doable

#

Without getting crazy on the expectations

ripe obsidian

Music has played a very important role in my life, particularly in regards to managing mental health. More when I was younger. I think I'd struggle a lot without it even now.

I mean I already dodge n stuff and I dont just perma stunn I stun long enough for when I release it knocks them over, most the time im using my blaze greatsword mowing down with the slash

ripe obsidian
#

Though I would strongly advise using Smite judiciously. Use LMB to quickly shock and push enemies rather than holding RMB, and don't turn to Smite for every single encounter.

sinful perch
ripe obsidian
#

A vast majority of Smite users just hold RMB. It works well enough in lower difficulties. It's not nearly as useful in higher difficulties, where you need big damage, especially with certain Havoc modifiers like Encroaching Garden. Or they'll just turn red and kill you.

#

Also, a Smite RMB user is largely immobile, and in Havoc that kills you.

#

One random-ass shooter from across the way will instadown you

sinful perch
#

I'm a big fan of assail ngl, gunners become a very big issue in higher difficulties and assail allows you to take them down while remaining completely mobile, and can be used in a pinch to get grunts off of you

ripe obsidian
#

Assail is good with many builds. Less good if you're already generating loads of peril with most staves

#

Assail + Voidstrike is great

sinful perch
#

Oh yeah 9/10 times I accidentally overload it's because of assail lmao

#

It's so easy to just accidentally hit it one too many times

ripe obsidian
#

Assail + EK or Inferno or Voidblast is... not a thing I would choose.

sinful perch
#

Dunno, I use it and it's perfect with inferno because your biggest drawback is you have no way to take out ranged enemies whatsoever

wind wind
#

Didnt ever consider how smite impacted everyone else.

Its emperor plapatine cosplay. Thats all i need and want

ripe obsidian
#

Assail is not an amazing long-range tool. It's decent, but usually you'll have teammates taking out enemies at range. Inferno has a 15m range and tons of suppression, plus Shriek to stagger, ER to maybe help you clear distance, or an aggressive bubble to charge through

#

I use Assail for close-range, loosely packed enemies when paired with Voidstrike

#

Or for keeping peril up with Meleeker

#

Or just always for gunker

#

Never don't assail

acoustic jacinth
ripe obsidian
#

There are a few maps where I feel like garbage without long range weapons, like Magistrati Oubliette or Dark Communion, because they have such open spaces

acoustic jacinth
#

Since EK struggles at anything that's not single target

ripe obsidian
#

But otherwise, the maps are cramped enough and have enough cover that I rarely feel lacking

acoustic jacinth
#

And melee is aslways good but smite is safer

ripe obsidian
acoustic jacinth
#

To a point

#

But thats the thing cause

ripe obsidian
#

I think the last time I used Smite was before Havoc came out. I picked it in Burster Maelstroms

acoustic jacinth
#

I got no need for assail or BB with EK's m1, it's stoopid strong

#

So smite is just the best middle ground

ripe obsidian
#

I use BB with EK, mostly for KF

acoustic jacinth
#

Yeah that's the thing

#

The blitz itself is whatever

#

But i still get it

#

KF's free damage

ripe obsidian
#

BB is a very good blitz if you build and play around it. But it requires you to use it a lot.

#

Kinetic Resonance + EP + good targeting on your part + loads of CDR from kills

acoustic jacinth
#

I mainly use BB on my inferno build (as everyone does tbf) it's a lifesaver

acoustic jacinth
ripe obsidian
#

Smite and Assail both overlap heavily with Inferno's niche, so BB is the only one that makes sense

acoustic jacinth
#

Yes

ripe obsidian
#

Though I probably actively use it <15 times per mission

acoustic jacinth
#

Nothing will kill the annoying sniper like a good bb

wind wind
#

BB is my "fuck you sniper i can fucking touch you" button. And If i have space, my anti bulwarks weapon. Thats about it.

But i love smite. KEKW_ogryn the only psyker blitz to have my heart

ripe obsidian
#

One thing I have found is that in many H40 groups, even randoms, people are good at filling their roles. I kill chaff and melee elites, the Ogryn saves me from Crushers and bullies bosses, the Veteran kills specials and ranged elites before I see them, the Zealot reads stories to the heretics, and the Arbiter runs off alone and gets confused when the team can't keep up.

Also, it is Brass dragons. An alloy.

"Considered to be the most gregarious of the true dragons, brass dragons famously, or infamously, loved to talk and would engage friends and foes alike in hours of long-winded conversation. Although many experts thought that brass dragons were the humblest true dragons, their loquacity was in fact a manifestation of draconic hubris, though brass dragons would count humility as one of their great virtues. Brass dragons could not stand to let any intelligent being miss the benefit of their company and their great conversation skills because they thought themselves so great at it.[8][9]"

Related, kennings are fucking rad

#

A kenning (Icelandic: [cʰɛnːiŋk]) is a figure of speech, a figuratively-phrased compound term that is used in place of a simple single-word noun. For instance, the Old English kenning 'whale's road' (hron rade) means 'sea', as does swanrād ('swan's road').
A kenning has two parts: a base-word (also known as a head-word) and a determinant. S...

#

completely unintentional but was cool because i saw some writing and had to do a doubletake

ripe obsidian
#

Something about conlangs doesn't click with me

#

My worldbuilding is largely focused around cultural evolution and how landscapes shape people

#

I do wish I could make visual art. Maps and clothing and architecture and stuff are all super cool

#

People who make conlangs scare me

#

Sort of related

#

"Although the base language of the novel is English, it is an English that Joyce modified by combining and altering words from many languages into his own distinctive idiom. Some commentators believe this technique was Joyce's attempt to reproduce the way that memories, people, and places are mixed together and transformed in a dreaming or half-awakened state."

zealous wing
#

koilang honestly is the most fascinating/scary

ripe obsidian
#

I do not know this term

#

Enlighten me?

#

Also, I wonder a lot how many conlangs have developed totally unique grammatical rules versus how many are the creator's native language transposed to a different format.

#

The Hopi time controversy is the academic debate about how the Hopi language grammaticizes the concept of time, and about whether the differences between the ways the English and Hopi languages describe time are an example of linguistic relativity or not. In popular discourse, the debate is often framed as a question about whether the Hopi have ...

#

'Whorf argued that Hopi has "no words, grammatical forms, construction or expressions that refer directly to what we call 'time'" and concluded that the Hopi had "no general notion or intuition of time as a smooth flowing continuum in which everything in the universe proceeds at equal rate, out of a future, through the present, into a past."[2] '

Whether or not this is true, I do not know and don't want to speculate without further research. I learned about it briefly in university and have since forgotten the details.

Probably gonna read as a dumb question but is smite the only blitz that actually scales with perks? Don’t remember the name of them but I know there are several that reduce peril cost in general which is great for smite since you generally only stop it once you reach 100% but with the other 2 blitz’s it seems like they don’t benefit as much/at all and there’s no other perk that buffs your blitz other than the 2 options that are next to them in the tree.

So see not only do you need correct items but items also have skills associated and special upgrades. So you randomly roll attributes on the item and then randomly get assigned how strong the attribute is. Then you can corrupt the item to prevent anymore upgrades but randomly get a really good final attribute. Unless it fails then you scrap it and start over.

There’s an online marketplace like WOW to get and exchange gear where the currency is the special item drops (there is multiple) that ā€œupgradesā€ items by forcing attribute rolls
