Seems likely. I ended up not finishing the game because every ending sucks. I get that it's cyberpunk, which is an unhappy genre about corporations crushing people, but it's still kind of frustrating to get in contact with multiple massively power AIs, to have allies everywhere, to be the most chromed person since Adam Smasher, and still not be able to have a good ending. Feels disconnected.

Not sure if Reeves as Silverhand impacted that at all.

Part of the whole thing with being told you're dying is a gaslight (Arasaka company shenanigans) and lack of knowledge (other Rippers and specialists not knowing, even the Docs from Arasaka are just assuming as this is a unusual case)

The space-jump (going to the space paradise/casino) is also not exactly bad, cause, living your life to the fullest to an extent

Though the themes are still melancholy

Traditional happy endings, like you mentioned, sort of don't exist in the genre

But from a gameplay perspective, it's just defeatist and frustrating
