Very useful for staves which are slow but yet speed helps them a ton with repositioning and safety
Knife is also decent at horde clear with bleed and strong single target damage
Dueling Sword's one thing is single target damage
and, of course, very few other weapons are anywhere near Dueling Sword, so if you're tired of it, knife is a good second option

The reason not to take In Fire Reborn is that Voidblast kills a lot on its own and Psychic Vampire is more consistent. In Fire Reborn has better stack gain, but is less consistent.

It's does have a funny interaction with FGS heavies on bulwarks. Like spamming FGS8 heavies into a bulwark's shield, it opening, and then you can get a head shot in.

Staves just feel bad before maxed usually. Very risky as well since peril gen is a mess early on. Assail is your best friend for lvling up... And really, playing gunker is probably best till you get most of the tree "unlocked". Is up to you in the end.

The year is 2077. You're playing Havoc because Fatshark broke Auric for the 95264th time. You can't see through the pox gas, but you see the daemonhost ritual. It starts to charge quickly, prematurely because Fatshark broke the activation radius in 2045. You rush to the ritual and immediately start blasting with your buffed Bolter. Vet is the latest meta ever since the most recent update which was in 2075. Your infinite ammo aura and map-sized AoE isn't enough, some of the enemies have white aura which literally just makes them invincible (it's supposed to turn off and on, it doesn't). Your zealot buddy books and stands there, doing his best as his aura works against the pox gas. You scream as you pull out your power sword, the only weapon capable of ignoring invincibility, and slice through the enemies. It's not enough. The 9 quintillion HP daemonhost aggros as the gas surrounds you.
