Yes, because quell cancel is used to skip the animation

On Elektro staff for example you can skip the animation by doing it and increase your damage by a lot, because you can just cast it more often in the same timeframe

But it's not needed to clear the most difficult content in the game and your hands will hate it too

You can get easy mastery with buying whites for 10k dockets at brunt, upgrading them to green and sacrificing for 10k exp. Upgrading to orange yields around 10% more xp but for like 300% material cost.
