Psyker generally doesn't have a great time in melee. You will see psykers often just dodge while keeping their staff out and firing point blank rather than melee. You can definitely use psyker for melee, but psyker lacks all of the protections given to Zealot or Ogryn and doesn't have a shout that can get them out of a bad situation immediately.

If want to take bubble and dig smite then you want to use the crit talent at the top of the talent tree but no scriers gaze then surge staff is your best bet.
