Kinetic Barrage is the safe "I don't want to burn all my charges" option, but the other two do come with improved recovery of warp charges.

im gonna say i dont see much of a use to unyielding on a purgatus, the only thing that you might even be hitting with your flames that is unyielding is bulwarks which youd only be hitting about half the time due to the shields anyway, because reapers will be further out of your range 99% of the time, and the only remaining unyielding type are monstrosities, which you would likely end up brain bursting or meleeing anyway, depending if their attention is on you or not, youd be too immobile when using the staff to actually get enough soulblaze stacks on it to be worth the time and effort without it getting out of your range and then you having to run over to catch back up (this being made extremely worse against chaos spawn), or not enough defensive capabilities if theyre targeting you
id just say 25% against flak, not just as a braindead meta pick, but because the purgatus already has a decently impressive damage profile against flak, and youd be using the purgatus against most enemies you would melee otherwise (which a decent amount have flak armor), and you can take out those flak armored elites that much faster like flak ragers, maulers, and shotgunners, which would already be closer to you than say a reaper youd be getting that unyielding bonus from

Barrage is objectively useless for purg, Nexus is mandatory, and Flurry is aight but really the only other available option because who the fuck runs Channeling or Run n Gun?
Some were saying focused channeling was really good but im not getting into that again 
without scrolling back up, I will say that there is a use case for channeling
and that's if your toughness is broken and you're trying to suppress shooters

But it doesnt ever really happen in game though, it is super rare that it happens and if it does u can immediately start spraying again

Unyielding on purgatus is very strong against bosses. Huge damage on monstrous mael mode. You should be flaming and BBing them for max damage, but just flaming a lone is big numbers.
I have to say that I love Quietitude for being toughness recovery that you can proc from full cover, even if your team has karked off elsewhere.

in monster maels, i would personally just kinetic barrage cuz that can kill them before you reach 100% peril from 0
I use flame on every boss, it's not rare it's every time, short of a bolter v nurgle, or a hammer zealot on a regular boss.
Flaming mini bosses, that's not super worth it, but they aren't really a big deal.
The boss is mostly around adds anyway, so BBing is often not a great strategic choice.
you can also just run flayer so you can both flame and bb them at the same time

Yeah Purg is destructive to bosses, and it very safe damage to apply, and you can kill other things while you do it.

Illisi has incredible cleave and wide sweeping attack patterns enabling it to murk trash mobs effortlessly, especially so when combined with Slaughterer and its special
Obscurus has mostly 30ish degree angle sweeps, with no real redeeming qualities
Deimos is nigh identical to Obscurus except its moveset has a lot more stabs, and iirc is capable of oneshotting a mutant with H2

Deimos with +maniac makes short work of muties (can be setup for one shots). L1 and H2 are strong single target attacks.

i dont turn off the part of my brain that does target priority, i turn off the part of my brain that is used to try and get head shots and that is used to find and pick off specific individual targets. its actually easier for me to do target priolrtization and to see the forest from the tress when using surge as I have extra processing power freed up from the lack of specific target aiming.

The mistake is to assume that gunpsyker is trying to compete with veterans. (Although, with the semi-static damage bonus from warp charges, warp battery and warp unleashed, they can do a lot of damage).
The thing is that you get a different package of traits to go with with the gun to what you'd get as vet or zealot.

For me, it's that I find Purge and Surge mean you rely on the rest of the team a lot to deal with shooters, Trauma is like trying to call in artillery fire from three sectors away, and Voidstrike struggles with quite a few targets.
Also, Trauma is awful when you first get hold of it.
For the most part, I run with an MG12. Much of my combat is melee, but the MG12 is pretty good at dealing with shooters (and can be applied with blessings that give a lot of ranged resilience).

Psykers can be absolute melee monsters.
They might (nominally) be the frailest class, they have to make up for it somewhere.
Hope you can get a private match together quickly when a Monstrous Specialists Heresy Maelstrom comes up.
Alternatively, find a friendly shield ogryn and have them provoke a daemonhost.

Actually I've been wondering if exorcist is even that helpful of a perk for psyker melee weapons to begin with, I don't find myself going critical often
And I usually stay around 70% peril anyways for extra damage
Always felt counter productive to have something that removed peril for me

As a melee/revolver psyker, should I ACTUALLY be taking Warp Battery instead of Kinetic Flayer?
Am also using Quicken but don't know. That extra 8% damage using Warp Battery is cool and all, but what if I drop the 8%, can still get up to 41% overall damage boost, and just have a chance to randomly blow up something?
Is 8% more damage max worth not randomly blowing people up

Because also assumedly, the random brain burst ALSO gives warp charges
So it'd be easier to keep warp charges maxed without using brain burst myself

It really depends what you prefer. Kinetic Flayer is fun but I rather have the consistent damage buff
What we really need is Psyker specific guns that can use force powers like the Laspistol
I mostly only use brain burst on bosses, ogryn, and enemies I don't think I'll be able to hit a headshot on so it'd make MY damage buff more consistent 
Give Psyker a ranged weapon where they can charge a shot with psychic power boosting it's damage and pen
Don't usually keep myself at a range where I can brain burst without making myself vulnerable to being hit
Usually always sprinting at hordes with Illisi

Or sprinting at shooters and blocking their shots with Illisi when needed
Kills with the Illisi alt-attack count as warp kills for the toughness regen

Random brain bursts = more toughness regen when I'm waiting for Peril to drop from 100% to 98% so I can use my alt attack again

It's why Flayer can feel unpredictable in terms of WC's sometimes.
Yea I prefer consistency especially in a game mode like Shock Troop

Rampage is the budget slaughterer that duelling swords have access to
seems like a solid choice, considering they hit crowds often but not hard
to activate rampage you have to push attack every now and then tho
the regular attacks don't cleave enough unless they crit

i prefer the generality of unstable power, but bloodthirsty is also nice
some attacks do less than the weapon base damage against tougher armour, rending increases your attack damage against those targets, at 100% rending you will be dealing the exact same as weapon base damage
there is a funny bug tho, rending (and brittleness) stack additively and you can actually get over 100% damage but only against targets that you deal less than 100% damage to begin with
unstabler power will be a gun blessing: 50% power at 100% peril, 0% at 50%, and -50% power at 0% peril

That's what I run on mael because I don't know what else to do. Trauma just doesn't work with all the specials and monsters. Purge just isn't my staff. At least surge can stun specials and destroy flak elites.
Surge + Deimos is nice in case your team lacks follow up but be sure to have the unstable slaughterer one and run battery & AB for that on demand horde clear
Revolver is actually pretty good with a build like 111112. Keep at 6 stacks at all time but don't be afraid to ult when you need. It's easy to get the stacks back.
Illisi and Deimos both work for melee, I have recently leaned more towards Deimos even tho it is not as good for horde but that mutant one shot H2 is a must especially if it's a conga line
I feel like once the Deimos is up and running with T4 slaughter stacks it clears okay enough. At least with uncanny strike. As for the revolver maybe with a vet to sip ammo off of I suppose. The surge just gives an easy cc role to fill and I take lacerations with KB to help everyone burst the bosses down a little quicker. Might give the revolver a try in the reg damnation to start if I find a good one lol

I personally got it in a pub game at the finale of Vigil Station Oblivium's finale, during the 2nd phase at that central platform
That's probably the best place for it (although on the bridges you need to angle yourself to push them off, not along- the spawn point behind the central platform is possibly better if a group drop in from there), although other decent places might be the Bridge of Fools during Silo Cluster's "waiting for the elevator" section, and I personally got it by launching a horde off the pipes at the end of Hab Dreyko.
So I had a thought. Looking at the Zealot tree, the iconic feat (eg martyrdom) is one of the last things you select. In Psyker's case, wth happens with Warp Charges?
my guess is that it's going to be tied with the brainburst blitz or not called an "iconic" anymore
with Battle Meditation presumably being the true "iconic"
battle meditation is a fairly useful iconic, so I am curious as to the alternatives
It'd be a bit lame if every other tree also relied on Warp Charges. I doubt that'd happen though
stuff like psychic communion and kinetic flayer are prob going to be locked behind the brainburst node
i imagine that our skill tree is going to look a bit different than the other classes because of the more involved nature of our blitz
there's a chance the warp charges n stuff are their own iconic that compete with the other 2 subclasses instead of being tied to BB
and then communion is 1 option for how u can get them
but idk. ascendant blaze is tied to the psyker ult and has a part where it gives you a new way to get warp charges
so i don't think we can really assume how it'll work because there are a lot of things to sort of untangle with that
i don't know about that, considering there's supposed to be 3 subclasses worth of content that u can mix and match with
it's just the current psyker feats are kinda all over the place for this specific model
and it's likely that some of them will be changed to better fit it, rather than changing the model to fit psyker
like u could split ascendant blaze into the fire on ult and the warp charges on flame kills thing
it's also possible that the order in which you get your grenade/ults/etc. will be different for psyker compared to zealot
and then include warp charges on flame kills under the warp charges node or smth

one thing im kinda worried is gonna be ridiculously broken is ogryn's bullfighter feat (10% cooldown on elite kills in coherency) with the gun lugger ult
since you could use that ult, dump a ripper into a patrol, and immediately have the ult back to do it again
unless it is specifically tied to the current ogryn ult's node
also ur optimism this isnt all just a thinly veiled excuse to nerf psyker into the ground again

That's one of the things that kind of worries me, as I like my current playstyle, but it is a bit of a fine balance to keep vaguely competitive as far as all the different bits working together.

Illisi is completely balanced, I might explode using the alt attack (if and only if I don't watch my Peril and overuse Psykinetic's Wrath even though I'm using Quicken)
I'm a squishy little boy Hides the fact that I have over 210 health, can block ranged fire, and blocking uses peril before it uses my stamina

if you get a good perk you have a decent enough chance of getting a desirable blessing
since getting a shit blessing actually gives you better odds on the 2nd roll since the pool of remaining blessings doesn't include the one you don't want
honestly, any curio with a good base stat will function well. being able to reroll 2 perks gives you most of the functionality you'll need anyways
but you only need 1 perk you want, so you can bring em to gold and have an okay chance of getting a curio with all 3 desirable perks
it's pretty annoying, yeah. when they gave us account wide wallets i spent 10k marks at melk's random curios shop to get the psyker curios i wanted lol
since it was the only class i didn't have any of the curios i wanted
i considered doing that but quit the moment i got a 14% toughness curio
I've gotten only one 17% toughness curio, and it had the most useless stats known to man
15% Grim resistance, 15% Flamer resistance, and 15% bomber resistance
I hope I made the right choice in rolling the latter two

IMO you should be able to do:
- crazy good DPS with lights against unarmoured, infested and maniac
- good DPS with heavies against unyielding, unarmoured and flak
- ok DPS with lights against flak and unyielding as well as heavies against carapace
- poor DPS with lights on carapace as well as heavies on maniac and infested
So IMO a max damage roll duelling sword with 25 maniac and 6 warp charges should destroy a mutant head in 2 light hits where as a not optimal one without warp charges should do it in 3 or 4 light hits.
That's my opinion on it and it would make a difference with Deimos in that it provides more of a high constant DPS where as Deimos is a burst type with the L1 H2 combo.

Huge. I would switch Unstable to Slaughterer, otherwise it's perfect.
It's great for playing aggresively. If you stand back and zap, you're not going to get much use out of it. It lets you walk down shooters, or tank ranged for a bit, bit more freedom of movement if you stick your neck out.
Realistically I only use deflector a few times each game, if at all, and most of the time you could avoid that damage in other ways. But it's great when you want it/need it.
on the other hand u could take shred / blazing spirit and then hit ppl and they are on fire. idk how this helps but they are on fire which looks cool

in general the issue with deflector is that it's such a passive ability. it's in essence a lot of stall potential - which is useful - but its not ideal to encourage if u could make it "ranged fire represents an opportunity if u can make a tradeoff"

It doesn't have to be a stall, you can use it to take more risks but be able to bounce back easily. Good dodging is almost the same, barring things like walking down walls of shooters.

which i think is a much better model, partly because deflector is a utility blessing competing with offensive blessings. in general this is an issue with the blessing systesm, but tweaking it in that direction both makes it more interesting to play and makes it feel like less of an offensive sacrifice
(arguably deflector should be something psyker just gets with any weapon as a tree feat. we will see)

I just took that sword against a Plogyrn and L spam did 8K to him no effort.
When using the LMB (bolt) attack with a staff, and also charged attack with Voidstrike, if you get a critical hit, you will fire a second bolt off that does non-crit damage.
It's sort of like crits getting 100% non-crit damage boost, but not quite, because the second bolt does need to hit something to be useful, and there isn't always a target there.

or you could put rampage instead of shred, but, the only way to activate it is with push-attack, so you need to remember to do that every few seconds. With rampage, infested perk, 6 warp charges, and warp unleashed, and 80 damage/finesse, you could get to a point of 1-shot on poxwalker weakspot with light attack, buuuuuut, MkV lights aren't great for hitting weakspots, so its just easier to treat duelling-sword as a tool for elites/specials and leave poxwalker munching for your staff
worth noting that if you don't run Kinetic Deflection, Defense is a very good stat
On mine I have flak crit chance. It's strong against carapace but not that strong, and usually teammates will help out anyway as long as you keep crushers stunned.
I think you should leave carapace or maybe change to maniac. +5 crit is nice but you're already have max crit bonus and have T4 warp nexus. I feel like more appreciable damage is gained from keeping a + damage type that's useful.

I think Finesse scales faster than first target at least for deimos. But yeah you definitely wouldn't want it as a dump stat.
Good thing the finesse is decent though, I mostly head sweep crowds if on a horizontal plane
finesse matters mostly for the attack speed, since the crit/weakspot damage multipliers drop after the first target on normals and the first 3 targets on specials
and you're probably one-shotting the first 3 trash enemies hit
If trash enemies being Poxwalkers, I usually kill at least 8 per sweep on Heresy

there's 0 decay and you're never stopped from dodging again

and dodge-slides are balanced by the fact that they count twice towards your dodge limit
(the only weapons worth using if ur trying to have the best loadout)
as a class bonus that would be a huge lemao
but this balancing fact is completely ignored by infinite dodges
so you can just spam that shit into ranged patrols as long as there aren't any gunners/reapers/shotgunners to knock you around
so while we don't have a zealot/ogryn charge, we do have a neat tool for closing the distance
i don't think it ends up changing that much because the weapons that get it are already the strongest

if you have a weapon with 4 dodges u have to dodge like 9 times in a row before the timer resets before it stops u outright
installing the dodge counter mod helps a lot with seeing what exactly is going on
once you git gud(tm) it's pretty rare that you run all your dodges out since you are a) spamming them less and b) get better at timing them for when they're really needed
i notice the lack of infinite dodges on other classes, though that's probably because i'm coming from psyker onto them
it ends up only happening when you are completely overwhelmed, which as an ogryn just means you throw out a single push or press f
even on the hsword, i get depressed when I have to wait 0.85 seconds for my dodges to come back

i think out current revolver is at most the medium variant
old obscurus had some skins with an illisi model iirc
plasma has skins with different vents and stuff
the only exception is some of the premium options i wouldnt assume are different weapons
