If I'm trying to get my feet wet in Damnation games, what maps should I go for? I've already done a Magistri Assassination (which I have no recollection doing, but hey, it has the skulls on the mission select screen). I'm thinking Enclaveum Baross or Consignment yard would be the next in difficulty?
relay station and silo whatever it's called are the hardest maps imo
so i reccomend staying away from those
especially relay station because it's bugged

I'm torn on feats with trauma,. On one hand the extra damage from warp unleashed is nice, but I really like the extra staff uses I get with rank 4 flurry + tranquility.
I really like Relay Station, actually. But I've stopped running it due to the mat bug

There have been 3 occassions where i've seen 2 monstrosities spawn at the same time

truly a cursed map
Hab Dreyko has the absolute worst mid-game gauntlet, the absolute worst end-game gauntlet, the absolute worst escape route, several "bomb ledges," and it's extremely dark to boot
I think they fixed that. I remember if you even touched the stairway going up, the DH spawns spawns behind you.
i also just find auspex scans annoying
can just solo the investigations

maybe if they bumped up the spawns
it's fine with a premade, but "scan five objects" maps are the bane of pug groups that try to save 5 seconds by splitting up like they're in a Scooby Doo episode

Really? I find that final room for scanning a nightmare as Surge. Open area, mobs coming in from everywhere, trying to do the objectives. It either seems to go semi-smoothly or a whirlwind of wtf moments. Nothing inbetween, same for that Silo mission. I dread queueing into those on Heresy
Silo is better simply because the specific area you need to go do is well-defined
so it incentivizes coherence at least
Dreyko and the mid-part of whatever that Espionage mission is called are both asinine with the "run in five separate directions" prompt. Unless the team has a well-defined anchor player or is otherwise coordinating in voice chat, they're liable to just run in opposite directions and all die
some people still dont know how to scan is the worst part..

I feel like Surge is one of the few weapons where Crit is actually valuable, but Flak is big power, so...
I'd go Flak. For Surge, you're probably already running Nexus, so you're going to get more value out of extra 25% damage

i'm starting to dig wildfire. the soul blaze spreading can work nice in certain parts of maps where enemies have to climb up to reach you, I was doing that in the map where you had to lower the bridge and the fire spreading was killing the ones before they even hopped up out of their spawn, plus it also lets you switch to melee after spraying a horde so you still get the dot, was nice when I couldn't afford to charge or almost overheated
Wildfire is very, very meh
It only stacks 4x
Which is very, very low
Warp battery + ascendant blaze is much, much, much more effective
From pygex, the guy behind the athenaeum psyker guide: PSA: Wildfire while sounding cool is actually very shit dps due to the hidden 4 stack max limit and the 2 stack treshold.
That is Wildfire cannot target enemies that have 5 or more stacks regardless of the stacks on the original target. In addition, 1 stack does not spread, you need a minimum of 2.
What this causes in practice is that you only get Wildfire effect when people die on the edges of the Soulblazed mob and it diminishes very quickly, not to talk about the abysmal damage 1 or 2 stacks do.
it's only 4 stacks per times it triggered but it adds up decently when burning through 20 poxwalkers, they're squishy enough for it to be decent when paired with melee, and the hordes are big enough that there's usually something to hop to

the only things that void have going for it are the knockdown blast radius, 6 cleave, and no ammo/reload time

like actually go and measure its DPS
go into the meatgrinder and go dink down a crusher with it
use the creature spawner mod and spawn yourself a damnation-horde worth of enemies including the elite types

trauma is the ground explosion, and voidstrike shoots out a ball
voidstrike is the plasma gun-alike that shoots a charged ball

but yeah, of all the staffs/staves, the voidstrike is definitely not one to complain about or even consider better than any other option

most obviously, anyone using a Combat Knife will run substantially faster than other weapons
Not really. The damage and first target are both mediocre, and Mk II is the "bad sword" now
if you want to use it anyway, Unstable Power or Deflection will be better than Riposte

When I run surge as the only psyker (or with another surge) it feels kinda like meh at times...but Surge + Purg psyker synergize with each other for ^

if you have toughness and don't have focused channeling, it turns out that you'll only get staggered whenever you're charging a cast while sprinting

If I wanted to try out that staff, I would first reroll the blessing to something useless like barrage and then upgrade. Better chances of rolling something good and you'll replace the T2 with a higher tier nexus anyway
also it seems that the stun that the bomber nade initially deals can be ended prematurely by swapping to another weapon, making you actionable again and able to dodge out of the fire before it starts inflicting damage

I'd prob replace warp nexus with a trash blessing and then see what is rolled in the 2nd blessing spot

assuming a 60% damage trauma staff (360 dmg), you'll need a 25% damage boost from somewhere to one-shot dreg bruisers (450 hp)
depends on what enemy you hate tbh
with the illisi, I don't really gaf about dreg bruisers
besides throwing them around if you don't one-shot them in the epicentre
I try to minimize the chaos done by my trauma staff, so I prioritize unarmoured

hmm 4 warp charges and 0% peril warp unleashed is 26% damage, so you don't really need +unarmoured

bursters take like 20x explosion damage so the epicentre always one-shots them (or two-shot by the outer area)
bursters and dogs being infested
dogs take 3x melee damage and will get staggered by the outer area of the trauma staff if they're midway through their pounce
you don't rly trauma mutants either so its kinda like
so I don't consider killing them with trauma important

deals 100% damage to carapace, but you ideally aren't using the trauma for DPS against heavy targets usually
but I usually blast crushers for the rending debuff and they usually appear in groups, so it's more worthwhile than melee/BB in those situations
and crushers are annoying with their period of stagger invuln so it'd be nice if they died even a little bit faster

you don't even need to target them with the epicentre
hitting them with the outer area will also knock them out of their pounce
though I prefer to knock dogs out of their pounce with a melee attack since I'm greedy for dealing damage to them

if it's not three mutants/trappers and has at least one flamer/burster/dog/sniper, it's definitely manageable solo
and specialists will gun for your team as well
even when split off from my team, I've rarely ever many specialists in hishock gun for me
and they usually come out of the closet in a staggered fashion
as long as you DPS check them, they're fine

trauma is nice for staggering flamers and giving that split-second to just run into their face and fuck them up
It's the shock troop gauntlet, it's three mutant/snipers most of the time 
even with mutants, their spawns are staggered pretty nicely

they come out one-by-one and they're staggered such that you won't get caught in the middle of your dodges
mutants are the worst cuz theyre the biggest time wasters
play mindtricks on mutants to make them target your teammates
if a mutant is a "time waster" then you're running the wrong build for hi shock

3 at a time mutants into 2 bursters and 2 trappers

maybe throw in 2 bombers from opposite directions as well
as a non-gunker, mutants do require some dedication to kill
With enough skill you can kill a mutie with a single bb
What none of you can do that? Level up some skill
if they don't target you, you'll need to be out of position to kill them if you don't trust your teammates
if they do target you, they'll eat your cleave and take a few melee swings depending on the weapon
and you might get forced out of your position to reliably dodge them
not bad, but they do require some dedication
since you cant figure it out on your own, there's no point in explaining since you wont be able to figure out what to do with it
It's best to use Shredder because if the AI focuses on you and your teammates don't know what they're doing, there's no way you could survive.
