I still like my idea (because it's my own idea of course) that brain burst should just charge up damage so long as you keep holding it
and the bar that represents charge now just represents how much of the enemies health the brain burst will deal in damage
so you can do short brain bursts for squishy enemies, or hold it for longer to one shot reapers/crushers
I just want there to be a damage buff for other teammate if I'm charging my burst on the enemy and it should give charges even if someone took the burst

Leonin Echo Knight for a Theros campaign I was in, Vedalken Shepherd Druid for a Ravnica campaign (really just a Simic Biomancer, but Shepherd got the idea across better in terms of mechanics than any sort of Wizard), an Aasimar Armorer who was flavored as a classical fantasy alchemist

How is Voidstrike Staff? It seems like the most fun out of the bunch, and a nice change of pace from my Crusher/Flamer shenanigans on my Preacher

For psyker you need lvl 30 before your builds start to feel nice
For FS, the horde clear depends a bit on the rolls but your basic horde clear combos that always work are:
- light heavy light repeat
- light heavy push repeat
The upper one is when you are safe, the lower one is when you have to make sure you or someone near you doesn't get hit
The force sword special has an animation lock, so if you plan to use it with multiple enemies surrounding you, activate special, push and then use it
The FS special is a damage multiplier, it does more damage on a heavy or if you land it on the third light. It will also deal more damage when hitting a weakspot.
Gun Psyker is fun but falls of a bit at herecy+. On those difficulties your only options are infantry lasguns due to their ammo economy.
Any melee weapon world on the Psyker, but the most used ones are Mk V Combat Axe with Brutal Momentum, Duelling Swords Mk II and Mk IV for a mobility boost and a Force Sword with Deflector.
The Deflector blessing allows you to block ranged attacks. Combining this with Kinetic Deflector at lvl 20 allows you to revive under gun fire.
All regular non-force weapons automatically quell very fast. Force weapons require manually quelling, which will slow your movement speed. The staves have a bit lesser movement speed penalty for quelling.
For Staves, Surge is your CC and anti armour support stick. Purge is a horde control tool and Voidstrike is your all arounder but requires Transfer Peril blessing on it to be good.
Spulblaze damage (blue burn) stacks multiplicatively and crits apply double stacks.
You can always safely Brain Burst (BB) at 97 and below so no need to quell more than that when you spam it.
That should cover perhaps like 10% of what it is to play Psyker.

No you can't burst at 99. You can FS special at 99.
You can burst at 97 and with Warp Battery and Inner Tranquility you can bust at 98 with 5 and 6 stacks

Also, weird question/topic, but I feel like a big chunk of why Zealot gels so well with me is that it's really easy to get myself in the proper headspace because fanatical bloodlust is second nature to me and the voice I chose is a fun one. Any tips for being able to get into the proper headspace as a Psyker so that I can keep the proper awareness?

Where Gun Psyker is better than a veteran is that you can bring a Lasgun to deal with ranged trash and still be able to open bulwarks and kill crushers (BB, especially with KB)
You can kill snipers and gunners reliably even when supressed
You can revive in extremely wild conditions
(Info, not sure if it's relevant or not for the headspace question, but I picked the Fanatic Zealot and Seer Psyker)

MK3 could possibly I think, with the F geared against Ogryns and damage boosts against unyielding, possibly it also being a crit. But I think 2 shot is possible.
I 3-4 shot them with MK2 Hellbore eitherway and it charges a shot in like 1 second so that's 4 seconds to take a Reaper down.

Trauma is unironically useful, it's a surge staff that can deal with hordes. It has massive stagger.
consider it more a CC staff like surge and keep in mind max warp resist, quell speed, and blast radius are mandatory

Zealot with an Braced Autogun is fun. You can ult at a Crusher and unload into it, the gun gets armor piercing for the duration of your ult.
I'm not much for Conflag Staff in VT2, and I'm not much for a reskin of it here

Voidstrike is more like a cannon ball than anything. Direct hit does the most damage which is why nailing headshots is good, the impact explosion mostly just staggers.

So Trauma sibling had all the time in the world to charge and BLAST
I would want to try 4 paykers with each having:
- essence harvest
- psychic communion
- kinetic overload
- ascendent blaze
3 of them wearing purge and 1 surge for the bulwarks and crushers and ranged.
The thing is, the AB 10% chance of charge on soulblaze kill does not only trigger from your soulblaze kills, it's any soulblaze kills. So with that on 4 paykers each wearing kinetic overload you have the potential to scale like crazy.

Even on heresy headshots can clear whole hordes in one shot as well as some elites and specials, 2 headshots will take out most specials. Time to kill seems lower on most enemies vs Surge.

As soon as Blessing Transfers come out Im honestly probably going to upgrade the Warp Flurry blessing on myVoidstrike from 2 to 4, it's surprisingly effective.
And 50% charge rate reduction on T4 Warp FLurry after 5 shots is insane for horde clearing

I would say that Transfer Peril is still my top priority, especially on higher difficulties
in my dream world you could rank up an existing blessing with materials
idk if I've seen Transfer Peril

So in hordes I can keep my peril at minimum

it's alright, not worth melk coins though imo. decimator stacks fall off easily and you need some of the stacks to even make up for the damage/first target it's missing
either of those Mks with brutal momentum has good single target dmg and good horde clear but they seem to come up pretty often and neither has long term stat rolls

my warp battery penance is also at 250s after I tried to get it a few times. I eventually stopped trying as it was boring. Kind of weird that its at exactly 250s, but I assume thats just coincidence.
the annoying bit is that you need just a single overactive veteran to ruin your day
I mean, if you just ask your teammates to let you burst the odd rando dude to keep your stacks up it should be easy

I got mine on Enclavum Baross, the section just before the end sequence with the Bridge of Martyrs, it came up in my "so close" achievements list and I was like "wow, i haven't maintained stacks for 300s before?" and then like the next mission I got it
i just ran around with communion and flayer while rocking a recon D and held one for 280 seconds, my first attempt at running 6 charges i manages to get it without any Hassel on malice, its rather easy

Its pretty solid. though if you were to reroll a perk, I'd chose the dmg one for a crit perk

I finally got a deflector force sword but idk if I should use it or not for defense lol
I got the zealot and veteran to 30 and got my Psyker to level 11. The Psyker brain burst is slow, suffers perils of the warp limiting the number of uses, and if you target something far enough away, you likely draw more enemies. It is usually quicker to shoot or melee anything you would target with brain burst, if someone else didn't already kill it for you. The class staff weapon also suffers perils of the warp and targeting isn't great. If you do decide to use melee or ranged instead every other class is more durable and better at those things. In short, the psyker is just a garbage boat anchor.

This is true but is critically the analysis of a psyker that hasn't got max level. Once you have your feats you have some utility but before then you aren't especially good at anything
I would say psyker brain burst is very good to take out specials far away. After you lock them in you don't need line of sight, so just peek, lock and you can hide and wait for them to die.

brainburst is an elite-killing tool and an otherworldly sniper rifle. It's not useful for much else
this game is also a cover shooter, peeking as a psyker is pretty cute abd swag

That's the thing: it can be at max level and with a lot of practice. It's just not as good as anything else at anything in particular
there's absolutly no need to keep up stacks all the time. the little dmg bonus usually doesnt even change any breakpoints. just take a feat that passivly generates em. use BB for snipers and bulwarks and maybe some far away specials but most of the time just dont touch it
leveling up the veteran and zealot was much smoother. I just feel like I am going to let my team down on every mission, because I could do alot more to contribute with zealot or veteran. When I get a psyker on my team, I know they are either going to be amazing or hold us back.
BB is very good on gunners when ulting with 6-3, it's ~1.1s charge time while you can move and point and click
and with you staffs you got great options that dont need ammo or have a long animation pulling em out
bb is good when your veteran isnโt
it's a bit slower than a vet but 1.1s per kill while in cover/moving/dodging is good
Bb is really useful for picking off super far away specials like snipers
the problem of BB is that use the peril you can't use for other stuff
you could go void and be the allrounder with great long range nuke capabilitys. purg and you're the horde clearer that doesnt suck up ammo. surge and you can perfectly deal with elites and become a melee monster cause you stun everything, close the distance and wrack havoc with your mk5. even trauma is great in high density situations
cover/moving/dodging while bbโing is the best part. i would hate it if i did the opposite

Basically the Vet can get a feat at 30 that highlights shooters for him as well as Elites and Specials, and every kill on such refreshes his combat ability duration.
W/o it, Vets are often taking more cover than returning fire.
In that Commsplex room that was being discussed, thereโs a constant funnel of Shooters dropping in.
So in Damnation, you definitely want a Vet in your squad with the Shooter highlighting 30 Feat.
I am aware, I have 30 vet and run that very feat.
Bonus points if they also have the feat for 75% Ranged resistance in focus fire.
Because then they canโt be stopped while clearing the Shooters.

Surge deals most damage to the first target and then additional targets hit get damaged less and less. However, the damage against armour is so much better than damage vs flesh that it will deal more damage to second target than the first if first one is unarmoured and second is flak

You either want to have FS for quickly dispatching mutants with special or clearing trash by reaching 200 unarmoured and 300 infested weakspot break points.
You should check the break down (notice those values are without any buffs and perks affecting the damage)
My guess is you can't clear damnation trash well with it and mutants are also not that fast to kill with it.

When you have 50 peril or less you can pop ult and cast 4 BB out before you have to quell for more.
If you run warp battery + inner tranquility you can get this amount to 6.
And those are not including the first pop before ult.
If your vet sucks you can run psykinetic's aura from the third column as well.
Play it right and you have 1 free BB before you ult, then you ult and have 7 BB to kill 5 elites and you can ult again to save you from the peril explosion but that is way too sweaty for me.

Yes you need to rely on your team to kill the horde while you are dealing with the bulwakrs and crushers.
With purge it's just so much easier to burn the horde, kite the big guys and then BB or melee them down after you have eaten all the trash

Because you can get Bloodthirsty on it as well.
So you special a trash and then all your hits are critical for a couple seconds.
Blazing Spirit applies X stacks per hit. Critical hits always apply double blaze stacks so you get twice the amount per hit that is listed.
Also, special attack is single attack with multiple hits, so when you have guaranteed hits and slap something with the special, you basically get the cap amount of stacks.
If you kill something with it, you can repeat.
and finesse is definitely not a dump stat for fsword

To me, hounds seem the hardest to dodge reliably. They warp to get their tackle. At least they can be pushed easily.

I've been lucky with duelling 'special' vs hounds
even pushing sometimes when theyre running around like sanic it doesnt work for some reason and the annoying aoe stun on pounces doesnt help
You can sometimes Push Hounds mid pounce, but you canโt ever reliably dodge them.
You need a melee with strong push stagger.
Got a 30 vet, 30 zealot and 15 ogryn and I'm not sure what we need but, we need something for psyker.

I noticed a while ago if you have a wall aligned with the direction it's running in, put your back to it, it'll run nearly against the wall and just before it grabs you, dodge *toward it you'll go past the mutant and it can't turn 360 so it'll just keep running till it hits another wall/person

They all watch each others backs, stick together, target prioritise worse than your average malice player
Mk V Combat Axe is far from single target with brutal momentum
Force Sword work with void because you have void to deal with hordes and ranged, force sword to deal with horde and elites/specials in your face and BB to deal with elites/specials from afar
It has no holes, it has overlapping features
Surge with duelling sword can work but you will struggle if you find yourself surrounded with trash mobs.
I don't bother with damnation, but I've heard that from heresey to damnation there's another big jump in avg player ability

It's a bit hit and miss.
At times you get players who know to take it slow and know the only way to survive is to cover each others arses. When it's like that, it's smooth sailing and you forget you are even playing damnation.
Other times you get people who treat it like malice. They run forward until they go down and when you revive then and tell them to group up, they ignore, continue with their play style, and finally when they are abducted and they see how far they spawned they leave the mission.
moment thag got me to stop playing heresy was getting downed by a gunner that I did'n have peril left to block. And having a zealot come and revive me with the gunnur maybe 5 feet away with no other pressure and getting dropped by said gunner that laid into them while trying to revive me
force sword seems like it's trash in melee horde
my only regret with staff psyker is i can't steal ammo from the veteran ๐ฆ

You CAN make it work with liberal use of your push and force shove but it's not easy

Push has infinite cleave and my FS can 2 tap light groaner & poxwalker heads and 1 tap heavy them without any additional buffs.
It's not best DPS but you can't find a safer weapon.

That's a personal mistake not the weapons

being able to efficiently destroy a melee horde is good. If you're safe, but the horde is too, because all you can do is limply flail the force sword around, you're giving the game more time to throw things at you which break that safety. Specials that overwhelm, ragers that overhwhelm, etc.
I can kill normal mobs in 2 light or 1 heavy swings at Damnation
the force sword is not a good horde weapon, and honest advice would admit this.

This is a lot of argument for something that can be proved either way by getting a good force sword and just trying it out
right from his comments on the video Force sword is...meh. There is a lot that is cool and I want to like it, but it forces you into using feat 3.1 for souls and 1.1 for toughness because the autovent is 2.5x worse than every other melee weapon which is normally pretty strong but feels bad when you are on the backfoot--a "win more" kind of build that works well when things are already going well. The damage into horde is nice and with a bit more investment I could get to the mutant and rager 1 shots which are nice.
I have a semi-mediocre one
that isn't to say the force sword is a bad weapon. Just that your secondary should have horde clearing capability to cover it's actual weakness.

Agreed, with Slaughterer blessing its mid, but for DPS all the Axes beat it out by quite a margin
