Because I'd rather not deal with motel/hotel crap. Saves money, keeps me closer to the actual communities I'm trying to hang out in for a bit and most motel/hotel zones I'm used to are just really disconnected. They're either part of travel clusters of other places near an airport or something or tucked away in some other part of a city/neighboring burb. No fun to be cooped up in there.
