If people want to stop playing a game, they can literally just not play it. Idk nor understand why this is so difficult for some people.

Overwatch is nice enough. Community is more quiet sometimes in quick play. I stay away from ranked; I just cannot care about ranked ladder climbing with a majorly abusive playerbase.

The whole revolving door of returning to form isn't something people critically understand and they constantly show it at every chance they get. And blizzard is notorious for coming full circle for somewhat the better then eventually just balling out with foolishness so I mean...

Whenever people are actually tired they can just back it up by never logging in again and all that. Folks are already hella conditioned to return to live service games anyway. It's a revolving door by design.

The whole obsession with launch states is whatever to me. Of course the game is going to be more entertaining when the people mostly playing it don't have a shred of a clue and just fucking around.

When it comes to 2 specifically, it was unironically some Blizzard-Activision™ behavior all the way down yes.

Total reneged implementations that would then be demo tested via events just to get rolled into a fragmented perk system, etc Stadium and blah blah blah when they had a whole line of promises prior that would've done exactly that (prior to covid 2020 landfall globally. Ppl actually have to remember why things happen at the same time).

Then there was the scrambling to distract people from the laundry list of blizzard abuses prior to Activision anyway. Then there were previous financial fiascos of the OWL nonsense between 1 and 2. Whatever was going on in the gaps of me just not being around so idk.

Fast forward the game is more rounded out (again) and that's good but people aren't going to not notice the full circle speedrun. And also, this new new rebranding/revitalization campaign they're doing is only going to last as long as their commerical quarters are concerned. It'll always be easy to talk about on places like youtube but these games are made to go on and on until they die or people move on for any reason.

And salt takes and faux discourse content is chief for live service games because most of these communities are genuinely full of people who really think terminal shitflinging is the same thing as being proactive.

Plenty online forsake developing a personality in favor of circlejerking online over video game takes so it's a win-win-win for companies: blizzard keeps eyes and fingers on keyboards that lead to log-ins and purchases; the platforms for shitflinging get endless negative engagement (positive for their numbers); and the playerbase or whinerbase gets to keep getting milked for just picking and choosing which revolving door they feel socially superior about for playing (while always losing time and money that go right back to industry).
