Ultimately the mk3 bolter is more useful imo, it's less dangerous when you're cornered to pull it and fire off a few hip shots to make room than trying to puff the flamer or brace fire it since it's doing damage and knock back rather than one or the other
Plus it still works for snipers behind mesh, killing a pox bomber before it can throw a nade, and carapace armor where the flamer and throwing knife don't

What zealot struggles with is priority ranged targets. I almost always take bolter just because it allows me to do everything I need to

Plus running puncture is nice for hitting bosses while your relic blade cools down too
3 is better vs hordes, 2b is better for single targets. 2b doesn't have as much aoe or stagger, 3 doesn't do quite as much damage and has less ammo
I run the 3 because it still works well enough vs single targets while helping with mixed hordes more than 2b
Relic blade does handle mixed well but on high havoc the cleave of the flamer or mk3 bolter really shines, but you're hardly going to have room to use the flamer there when things are dire
