There's many that don't like it, but it's definitely usable if you just prefer to play more of a support role. In particular with crit weapons there's some synergy with fury of the faithful so it's often recommended for crit

Personally I’m not a fan of book because you can still be shot, and I don’t trust randoms to take advantage of the cc it provides

If you want to lean more into crit, you can also replace the braced autogun with an infantry autogun or laspistol, those are more crit centric ranged options
Shredder auto pistol is fairly crit friendly as well but it's considered a more niche option since it doesn't work well into armor

The numbers on the right of the fractions are the potential that weapon can reach, the number on the left is where it's at
A perfect base will have 80 as the limit on all stats except one, which will be at 60
Unless it's one of a handful of weapons that does a partial dump stat like the plasma gun on veteran
Getting a good base isn't easy before you hit level 30, then you can buy one weapon type en masse from brunt to farm for a good base to upgrade
