I just assumed Iād want to maximize my crit chance and damage since thereās a lot buffing crits with the zealotās talents.

crit damage is extremely underwhelming cuz it only applies to the extra damage of a crit
e.g. if a crit does 150% of a normal hit (i.e. 50% more), 10% crit damage increases only the extra 50% by 10%
which brings you up to 155%
whereas armor type modifiers are multiplicative with everything else which means 25% carapace brings you from 150% to 187.5% against carapace
and in higher havoc basically only carapace and unyielding needs extra help from melee (and mutants i guess)
everything else is easy to clear and/or will be obliterated by your purg psyker if you have one, or flamer if not

there's a guide (Hammer of the Emperor) in the pins of veteran channel that explains a bunch of this stuff - it also has blessing/perk recommendations for pretty much all the weapons. it's in vet channel cuz it started off as a vet guide but has expanded to include zealot (and maybe a bit of arby?) so it's a good read
