it raises the armour modifier, so say you do 20% damage into carapace, you could increase that up to 100% by stacking uncanny
so its useful for crushers, maulers and plasma gunners
and i don't remember the knife unyeilding modifier off the top of my head

Ragers often spawn in packs and its generally best to avoid fighting them in close quarters. It's easy to die to them since each attack is two hits.
And staggers super important fighting them as well.
And parrying not only staggers but nullifies their attack
