It does seem to go slower than I would expect, I assume sometimes when I think its a backstab, it is a flank instead, still 1 shots most things with charged up thammer but does not count for the penance

No you can use any. I did with Duelling Sword. Just spam shroud as soon as you see any special/elite and backstabb it. It’s easier with fast crit weapons since you will lower your cool downs faster by criting / backstabbing depending on your keystone
