If you can manage to get access to therapy that's actually compatible with you, go for it. If you got friends you can sincerely confide in, do so. Plenty of ways people can get shoved into relying on the internet as their primary outlet for human interaction.

Therapy is nice in tandem with other stuff. It has its limits but can provide helpful insights from people that take folks' needs more seriously.

i mean its not like I dont have IRL friends i havent leaned on already, and ive tried in the past on pretty much every advice ive been given, I literally go into a fight or flight response when i think about approaching a stranger at say a bar. The best way to get better at anything is to do it. I'm not gonna pretend that getting over social anxiety does not have degrees of severity and it does sound like you have it somewhat bad.

Still if it's something you do seriously want to change, just try starting out small. You don't have to throw yourself in the deep end so to speak and just start chatting up randos.

Try smaller stuff like you and a good friend who's more social going out. You could then try having them act as a bit of a bridge to ease into meeting people or breaking the ice because that's typically the hardest part. Once you find more people who have things in common it can help grease the gears

The Chair is also correct. If you're comfortable with being alone or with a small circle nothing's wrong with that. If you'd like to see yourself change then just try taking some small steps when you're ready
