It's mostly just people abstaining from animal byproducts while cooking. This includes alternatives to things like cooking oils and that kind of thing and even developing other methods of essentially achieving similar chemistry like making butter in a way that can still act as a binder without sacrificing integrity of the dish.

I can't really speak on how stuff was made really because it was years since they got shut down. The first version was some dude and his family, sons mostly from what i say. Then another that was in the same sort of angle for the cuisine but idk who they were and didn't get a chance to hit them up again and see what they were about and how they managed to cook the way they did.

Zero clue but I will say it's interesting to have those experiences. I had someone get me hip to how there's like a kind of sea shroom or some shit that straight up has a fishy taste profile that can be used and cooked to have a damn near 1:1 texture of a scallop.

I honestly didn’t mind it too much. The issue I took with it was the fact that heavy support was generally useless. Slow, very predictable use of special ability, but the worst? The heavy bolter was incredibly underpowered I felt. You could sit there and empty 20-30 bolts into an enemy and they’d somehow survive.

Meanwhile, carb bolter users are downing entire teams in 10 seconds. Just unbalanced really.

Indie game with about robot people fighting against their genocide at the hands of humans who are basically cutting off the substance that gives them their personhood despite being a robot and attracting eldritch apocalypse shit.

Story follows an amensic young robot woman who was created by a human who wasn't down with the robot subjugation deal and played a critical role in helping erect some emergency defensive plans that are being disrupted by the eldritch shit on top of the fact that eventually, robot people without access to the substance that allows them to basically be sapient will turn them rabid and incapable of thoughts outside of feeding their hunger.

A core aspect of the game is that the substance is finite, adding to ludonarrative cohesion when the setting that allows important npcs to also turn into "Unsighted". Every enemy that isn't eldritch goop is a robot person who couldn't get access to something humans intentionally sabotaged as a means of enslaving them and maintaining their oppressor status.

Everyone, including the player character and relevant npcs all have limited time spanning like weeks to barely even months. The resource in the gsme is intentionally made finite with an overall timer for the player as an additional point of failure for a game over.

There's also a lot going on with a romance between the main character and her struggle with reclaiming her own scattered mind because she was always part of the community, just training herself up and helping out. Folks that try to help got all kinds of shit going on with what they want to do with their lives but they know that unless this existential crisis can be solved asap (with no guarantee that the harm done from humans can be remedied or something I need to finish the game lol), all they got is borrowed time while doing their best to make their lives any better.

All you can do is buy time while actively trying to finish the game and any number of extra quests on the side can change how the story flows around the crisis at hand. The player can go about things in just about any fashion, with the added angle of whether or not the player cares enough to try and help or horde or whatever with the finite substance. Time is constantly against the player so it blends so well in a sort of way from the perspective of pushing oneself to aid that greater effort but under really messed up circumstances.

I'd say that depending on what your range is with what you're willing to take on, I can see the speed of things being a bit intimidating. Will say that there's more direct control the player has on their actions with some solid feedback and cancel opportunities. You really can just play your own way and pace.

Ya. It came out like...a few years ago iirc. Really lucky that I got exposed to it when I did. I haven't beaten the game but it has a lot of pretty clean design choices inspired from games the original Legend of Zelda in terms of the variety of ways to approach the game at large, metroidvania conventions around exploration and unlockables, stuff from character action and even fighting games, etc.

It's a pretty sincere piece from a smaller studio. Need to check the rest of they sauce if they have more games under their belt.
