Mk4 has better damage and excels at dropping targets with weakspots. The other does significantly less damage in favor of larger aoe stagger output. The newer mark falls behind the other but in my experience, plays very well into veteran melee builds up into auric difficulties. I'm still climbing havoc and have never used it there so I don't anything to say about either mark based on my experiences alone. Can't speak for zealot, psyker and arbites.

Yeah. Although it really falls behind compared to the mk4, I've had an alright time using it against weaker specialists and elites. Headshots still work and at least the stagger it provides works well with setting up melee if that's just how you want to try it.

I've only used it on veteran so that brings in a whole lot of other things working to enable the weapon. Headshots can still drop things that weaker hp pools but it'll be noticeable against tanks enemies which is where melee, grenades, ability use matters there

Matter of perspective imo and use of it. You don't have to use it if you just don't care about it in a real mission. Costs nothing to change blessings and go back to the other mark, other than dockets.

Veteran has enough going for it that things like reload speed and ammo reserves do not matter too much for me. I just apply the same judgment and execution I got for just about every weapon and go from there. Ended up liking playing with it so that just gives me another angle into liking bolt pistol period.

The next runner up using it in my mind is like the arbites and maybe psyker. In either case, the classes and talents themselves are doing more of the work there to not let the aoe mark be a hellhole of a time.
