I still got mfkers that disappear the moment they see a combat knife and shroudfield on my character. Doesn't matter of they run meta and are mediocre or ass and still learning the basics. It's a very persistent attitude across gaming communities globally I'd say because it's just that important to some ppl.

I'd say that players still have to dig into fundamentals in order to perform even with extremely effective stuff but won't be as pressed compared to other options even if they're not bad.
Often, a large part of meta builds really is coming off the back of having safety cushions for oneself and others (the entire history shout abilities, knockdown charges, bubble shields etc.). Builds back then that could work but required some kind of extra input from the player could be tantamount to catastrophe in some people's minds. As in, anything that could be slid with notable margin for error could be dismissed.
People literally used to condemn weapon specialist and DD (granted DD had a goofy bug but it wasn't held back too hard by it if you actually played right tree psyker w scrier and its usual suspects at the time) before enough ppl got over being terrified of execution.

Ease of access is important and if we're being honest, once someone is familiar and consistent enough with strong fundamentals, these games are not at all bastions of high execution and setup. Which is fine but something worth bringing up

You have co-op pve games that even after a better familiarity is reached, the overall experience is still stressing being on point in a way that tide especially really doesn't until factors of neglecting VIP's and flubbing come into play.
Or being overwhelmed when domino tragedies are happening.
We aren't playing a game where you actually get bursted down in seconds for making a small mistake in the middle of chaos.

Ogryns can flail forever and just stay topped off or close to topped off in a pinch off their toughness generation alone. Every generalist build in vt2 that had extreme effectiveness regardless just vomited temporary hp for free. Every mercenary kruber and witch hunter saltzpyre had a pretty easy time getting anything done before exceptional play would ever be a factor.
