I personally use it as a sort of shitty litmus test to have a better grasp of what my output can be with something. Otherwise, it's the most nothingburger thing.

Think games where a character that has easy access to aoe can end up looking like a monster on the dps chart when their damage is actually nowhere near as high as another's who is just missing or tasked with strict execution.

Scoreboards are suggesstions that people can choose to buy into one way or another.
