The economy behind that sort of grift has everything to do with how any preacher can scam a community out of its elderly and needy while funding another Lincoln for example. Cults of personality that can echo and co-opt a rhetoric that has actual substance and truth to it between generations being adapted towards subjugation. 1. No Party for Cao Dong - Taiwanese punk. The lyrics are decently easy to understand but they have a very heavy taiwanese accent.
2. 海鹏森 Hiperson - Avant garde post punk rock from Chengdu
3. 刺猬 Hedgehog - Very indie (and famous) rock band from Beijing. My gateway drug into C-rock. Sometimes they sing in English too, but for a lot of his older songs the lead singer's accent is atrocious.
4. 明天的盐 Salty Tomorrow - Punk from Hangzhou, very rhythmic and metered lyrics and they sing pretty slowly, I think this band would be good for getting used to how Mandarin sings
5. 新裤子 New Pants - Rock legends in china, their songs are very good
6. Sunset Rollercoaster - Taiwanese romantic pop with rock elements, the vast majority of their songs are in English though
7. 海龟先生 Mr. Sea Turtle - Taiwanese rock band, they mix English and Chinese lyrics and the lead singer can sing English well.
8. 蛙池 Frog Pond - Guangdong band, the lead vocalist has a southern accent that is really easy to understand
