So I’ve been doing Aurics daily for about a month! Been doing good, but a few questions about the heavy sword.

I’ve been using it to great effect, along with the flamer. It’s a great combo but I often find myself getting a little overwhelmed by sheer numbers on auric. Flamer makes short work of mixed hordes but ammo is always a bit limited.

Heavy sword is great but I find it struggles with mixed hordes a
Bit. It’s fine vs Unarmored ragers, but once crushers and carapace armour shows up, you’re really relying on the flamer and slow reload times to thin the horde out.

I have deathblow and head taker on the sword currently, with flak/elite for perks. Anyone run HS on auric with a different set

That’s why I bring the flame. Bulwark/crusher patrols get eaten by the flamer. I find the bolter is great but reload is slow, plus you’re dependant on positioning to actually get past bulwark shields.

Horde clear and some mixed horde action

I use the 9 because it's good at everything

Amazing horde clear and excellent single target

Slightly slower but only slightly

You should be using chastise h1 anyways against armored targets

Piety makes you unkillable w Stalwart, GB, and EF

And piety gives you just enough crit to get ur chastise back very very quickly

P much 100% uptime on iod

Which is how you kill armor without breaking tempo and letting enemies get in ur krieg when u draw ur bolter

Lots of armor or bosses i start by unloading my bolter and charging

Scourge helps with boss kill by giving you more consistent crits since the hs's suffer against unyielding as well

They’re never a significant threat, I more just like killing them faster so they don’t kill the group! I found flamer with carapace and penetrating flames helps there, but bolter works great too

In practical gameplay IoD is never off cooldown in combat without the right side node

You also get ane xtra point

Since with right side piety you have to take the worthless node before the 10% crit

On stalwart you just take stalwart and move on

If you look at effective toughness that nets you 125 effective toughness, 156.25 ET, and 195.31 ET. That's increasing returns from further sources of DR, as enemies do flat damage.

If you look at the ET increases for each source each one is 1.25x the previous in that example too.

like 80% of 100% is 80% and 80% of 80% is 64% while it is 80% of the value it was at, it was only 16% of the total 100% instead of 20%

If the comparison is between something such as two sources of 25% TDR and one source of 50% TDR, it would be true that the former is lesser. In this context though the comment was regarding getting diminishing returns from stacking other DR, which doesn't happen.

If you just look at 0.8^2 being 0.64 you ignore the fact that you're getting 56% more health from that vs. the 25% of each individual source. Saying it's diminishing returns because of the % getting smaller per successive source of DR just shows a lack of understanding of how DR works.

You are literally gaining more and more effective toughness for each successive source of DR. That's the opposite of diminishing returns.

Like for instance this is untrue. Diminishing returns would have it so the tangible aspect sees less and less benefit for each investment. In that example you go from 100 toughness to 125, a 25 point increase. Then you go from 125 to 156, a 31 point increase. Then 156 to 195, a 39 point increase. All from the same exact size for each source of DR, in this case 20% DR. This is an increased benefit for each successive source of 20% DR.

The only case in which it's viewed as a decrease in benefit for each successive source is if you do not scale the DR %, for instance 1 > 0.8 > 0.64 is a 0.2 -> 0.16 difference. But in reality you're going from 80% of 100% damage taken to 80% of 80% damage taken, the % reduction is the same but the baseline is different. This distinction matters when talking about effective health.
