Ds4 is safe cuz it has similar mobility but WAY longer reach and higher single target dmg so you don't have to engage with danger
Taxe has that mobility but you gotta be in their face and swinging
What makes it uniquely safe is its stamina profile in all aspects and its deceptive amount of stagger
It has such low push and block cost, and does both super fast, and the push attacks have heavy damage profiles, which have enough impact to stagger ragers and maulers out of attacks

You can do heavy spam on both just due to the good looping heavies. Mk X loops the sweep heavies and Mk II loops the uppercut/overhead heavies. Both are really good.

For the gun it'll depend on difficulty and what your team has. Relic Blade is a generalist weapon, and a good pairing for keeping up in damage while not having a damage ult. Usually I'm taking a Boltgun, Revolver, Brauto, Infantry Autogun, or Laspistol, but that's not everything that works with it.
