Rending is a flat increase to that number. If you have a .45 adm vs carapace, and you get 20% rending, your adm vs carapace is now .65 (65%). Brittleness is the same as rending, but its a debuff applied to the enemy, which means your teammates can benefit from it.

The reason people are initially turned off by the flamer is that it doesn't deal high direct damage; its damage is dealt through burn stacks because fire is absolutely absurd in this game.

Hold button down longer = more burn stacks, + infinite cleave = 500 dreg ragers turned to dust and scattered to the wind within 1s of each kill.

On lower difficulties this isn't possible because,

1. horde density, including mixed horde, isn't even remotely problematic
2. elite density isn't a thing
