I've been playing some matches with it and it takes forever to chop through the yellow hordes

I mean it's certainly not focused on it. But it absolutely curb stomps virtually any single target so it's a matter of prioritizing what to use on what and controlling hoards through movement as you whittle them down, use your gun or grenades on them, or let other teammates focus on hoards

It's very liberating to push a crushers brain out of its head with ease, but hoards will take time as a consequence, if using melee.
