There are certain weapons that retain functionality when out of ammo on each class, except vet, and that is one of them.
Used to be weapons with bashes would be able to push bursters for free but they made weapon bashes take stamina for some reason.

Those are very good tools to have while leveling

After that you can path to getting the 10% attack speed node by level 19 or 20(20 if you take the 2 career skill charges)
that will make a lot of weapons feel much better
and then from there you can flesh out the build based on what type of build you are after

since the push attack isn't really as useful as it is on other weapons
btw health keeps the full bonus from it (5% health is 10hp on zealot), toughness is multiplied by the modifier after everything is added up iirc
the health loss from havoc only affects your base hp amount, and health bonuses are all multiplied by your normal base hp and added to what you have

the mk2 has uses, and the mk5 has the most insane dodges... but the mk4's stabs are op
the mk2 has 1 stab and a sweeping heavy
the mk5 has overhead attacks, which have worse adms than the stabs
if you're going havoc for chonky hordes... the mk4 or mk5 are your best bet, since the sweeping heavy on the mk2 isn't going to find much use and the lights aren't gonna be very useful
