what lies of p does different with its setting/story (beyond "woag pinocchio and woag belle epoque") was that it was able to give the same presentation of "everything is fucked and twisted and evil" but with a more grounded reasoning, enemies dont attack you cuz of reasons like "ooh the macguffin has corrupted their mind and theyre insane now oooo" but for example in the puppets case, they ||are attacking citizens/you not out of any sort of malice, but to prevent the main antagonist from infecting the citizens with the disease that crystalizes their life to fuel his goal by killing the people before that can happen, a "for the greater good/the end justifies the means" situation||
