ok, from what i have tried slaughter is kinda harder to keep when facing bigger enemies like crushers, its not imposible to deal but definely has more troubles to maintain stack, and while it can control ragers i feel hammerblow can absolutely halt a crusher march with so much ease (they are crying on the floor kind of easy). said that i can totaly feel the damage bump, its much more effective in hordes and it indeed can cut a rager walk when stacked and will kill crushers with more ease in grase of the damage buff, but there have been some scenaries where it feels that the first blow to stop is isnt that effective, so it can cause troubles (but natuarly thats covered by a team)
I am no zealot main, but i knida like both alternatives tbh, Slaughter do feel more efficient, but hammerblow can put work too
