I don't think ranked matchmaking games are a good comparission here because ELO system only really works for chess, a 1v1 game. Most depressed ppl have that ''its out of my hands'' mindset anyway and playing a game where others can throw your progress under the bus feels like the perfect place to cultivate the seeds for that way of thinking
