• Cranial reduces heat generation per second and per attack (giving it better value when attacking faster, e.g. Mk10 lightspam), and does nothing to cool it faster while deactivated
• Heatsink directly subtracts heat while the buff is active but only has 1/3 the stated effectiveness unless the weapon is in lockout state
• Cranial needs 2-3 stacks to beat Heatsink in terms of extending time per activation, depending on average attack speed—if attacking slower (like, barely fast enough to keep either buff active) Cranial needs the extra stack to pull ahead)
• Cranial needs 3-4 stacks to beat Heatsink in terms of total activation uptime (Cranial's extended activation time > Heatsink's extended activation time plus its shortened dissipation time) if you are manually switching the weapon off
• Cranial needs 4-5 stacks to beat Heatsink's total activation uptime if you allow it to reach lockout (you really shouldn't)

This assumed 100% uptime on either buff (for a given number of stacks, for Cranial). Notably, while Cranial needs to build a stack, it only needs crit/weakspot hits while Heatsink needs crit/weakspot kills—i.e. Heatsink can't stay up on monsters if there's no chaff within easy reach; any swing that would proc Heatsink would proc Cranial but not vice versa.

PA is your best friend, it has the highest finesse scaling for your entire moveset. H1 with empowered chastise will 1tap a crusher. Empowered PA has infinite cleave. Know when to empower and when not to.
