Yeah, enemy hitmass gets too high to cleave with melee so horde clear is relegated to weapons that ignore it outright. Get the tank to taunt them and gather them in one spot for the Mage to AOE. We World of Warcraft now

So wizards, one of the hive "elite" enemies in D2, dealt arc damage as their ranged attacks, and said ranged attacks could curve to hit you. In GMs, just about everything could 1tap you already, so this meant arc burn (all incoming arc damage deals 50% more damage) would absolutely obliterate you if even one of their projectiles touched you.
