I like both, really. vt2 is a much more stressful experience overall and I like that extremely more than darktide. Darktide however, has some really nice quality of life changes to the base gameplay mechanics and lends itself to more showy play. Can't really get that in VT2 unless im running certain classes and playing a particular way.

Ranged in vt2, with the exception of builds designed to be much more liberal with shooting stuff, was much more surgical with how it needed to be applied on average.

Weapons like longbows, handguns, etc., all tended towards rewarding extreme levels of consistency but you had to not fuck up to extend its usefulness.

Plenty of ranged options in dt that reward marksmanship and guns blazing.

There's way more room for margins of error in dt across the board without it totally breaking a player's ability to perform. Plus, again, we have far more ways of getting around the battlefield by comparison. You don't need to be a zealot, slayer, footknight, or handmaiden to just bring yourself towards more dudes. Can just zip and slide everywhere and most class and weapon combos let you do it with noticeable efficiency and reward.

There's genuinely a lot to spin with ranged weapons in vt2, but you just actually have to spreadsheet just a little bit. I almost always caught myself referencing breakpoints and the like more since leaving specials and elites that matter alone would be a severe detriment so getting those 1-2 taps for the precision weapons was a must.

Lots of ways to run swiftbows, flamer guns, and uh, that gatling gun for example but you just couldn't really get away with less than mediocre to get the job done.

Weak builds were undeniably a struggle to work with. Some would just be a death sentence in legendary and higher.

Fast one is nice. Gets nicer when you have more control over yourself in higher pressure situations and fwiw, it pairs extremely well with marksman's focus if that's what you want to run.

Personally prefer the standard infantry lasgun but it's not like you're hurting yourself by using the other marks.

Well, dunno about the slow firing, harder hitting one. Last I really used it, felt like it was just so vastly outpaced by my use of the standard one that I avoided it the majority of the time unless I was doing something like VoC and Focus Target compared to Exestance and FT.
