you can make use of IJ with knife without piety as its base crit chance of 20% allows scourge to give you 50% right out of the gate, but duelling sword has no such luxury despite nearly having just as high of a finesse stat

Piety is a great keystone for duelling sword because you can comfortably have good damage reduction and, considering it's a finesse weapon, youre going to be doing LOADS of damage with duellist, precog, and a crit.
