Chain axes have such high damaging rev attacks that the only enemies who would still be alive after one are bosses and carapace
Thrust allows you to easily one shot crushers with the mk12
And you have no means of buffing the bleed with rending either, so you're also better off with the 60% more damage on a heavy rev overhead against a boss

Its literally the best strat with zealot. You cant win a firefight against a ton of gunners, you cant even peek them from cover. You can keep on them in melee and keep them staggering around so they cant shoot and killing them to get toughness back

I've found it really helpful for horde clear more than anything
you can use the light sweep to give yourself a second or two of breathing room
then full charge the heavy sweep back the other way and take 4 or 5 horde with it
and there's always thrust then thrust while they're shocked
