Depending on what you've changed on it so far, you can swap it out and try the other combos and see how they do for you
Shock maul doesn't really need falter cuz it already has a tazer that stuns everything short of mutants and bosses, and anything small it can just outright kill fast enough anyway
Plus with lightning reflexes, there's no cooldown on the perfect block, so you can spam block in front of a group of ragers and oops they're all electrocuted now and you have a damage buff to use against them

I mean people were doing great damage with the Eviscerator when it was bad, back in those days. So skill definitely can make it much easier to use pretty much any loadout.
