The crucius is a unitasker, it only deletes bosses, does poorly vs hordes and is only ok vs elites/specials if you can manage to get a powered shot off on them with a strike down, or outside a crowd.

I can one shot crushers/bulwarks/reapers all day, same with mutants and just about any other special or elite target, bosses take more shots to deal with than the thammer, but thats the trade off. The thammers however can ONLY do high damage to big targets. I would say its reasonable that my horde clear times with it not be so shit as to make me not want to bother with the weapon at all.
