Also "Hulks need medium penetration and explosive for the eye" is wrong, medium pen is 3 AP and the eye is 4 AV. The eye is also explosive immune. Not to mention that nearly all handheld explosive weapons have a 3 AP explosion, which wouldn't damage the eye regardless.

Been playing both, HD1 has fine loadout diversity but they have a far different balance approach + powercreep is NUTS in that game. So if you're using one of the incredibly potent weapons it'd feel that way.
HD2 only has 1-2 options that I'd find "OP" (Breaker IE due to high durable + incredible chaff, Flamer due to similar reasons + it ignoring breakable armor due to a bug). Everything else ranges from viable (Dominator, Breaker, Scorcher, Blitzer) to kinda boring but still viable (Base Lib, Diligence, Sickle) with Scythe, Dagger, and Lib Concussive as "what in the hell". With both factions in mind you could count unusable weapons on one hand.

in hd1, there wasn't any 1 weapon or any 1 stratgem that was insanely popular / mandatory.
I think the hd1 version of 500kg bomb was taken quite a bit but in my experience its more memey and because they are lazy to prime the explosion
it was really cool seeing that exfil explosion timed nicely for the first time.

If you take a Stalwart on bugs, a Scorcher to cover durable DPS and 3 AP + 3 ST stratagems will cover the weakness of that loadout. Or you could take Thermite (given luck lmao), Frags, or Throwing Knives to cover anti-Charger/Behemoth. For stratagems, current gripes are with 2 and only 2 stratagems, Orbital Laser (could be far cooler) and the MG Sentry. Everything else is minor to biased for me (namely 120mm, Smokes, and AT mines).

It's been different for I'd say ~3.5 months now yeah. Let's say you really want idk... AC on bugs. You could take any 2 AP small arm barring Scythe and Dagger. I'd probably do anti-chaff primary + Bushwhacker/Senator/GL Pistol for varying utility.
Then for stratagems you have utility, chaff, and mediums covered. This leaves the like 13 AT stratagems left to handle heavies, could sacrifice one for extra padding in chaff (w/ a mech or the ~16 stratagems that cover density). Grenades could go for stuns (anti-Charger/Behemoths), HE for anti-medium, incends for anti-chaff, throwing knife for novelty and anti-Charger/Behemoth.

I say Throwing Knives because they, like Flamer and player melee, can ignore breakable armor. You can hit the flesh underneath the armored leg and kill them. This is a bug so it may not stay around forever.

Skid Tech is a state where the breakable armor on the legs are completely ignored by all weapons. This state allows you to kill Chargers and Behemoths with literally any weapon (500 health, 0 AV, 70% durable). The state is entered on certain animations and is reset on any ability ID call. Here, Chargers/Behemoths enter this state after a charge where they skid to slow down and don't hit an obstacle mid-charge. Then, it is reset if they try to melee, start another charge, or iirc if they start walking.

at least 76% burn, as that gives max applicable burn stacks and the jump in tick damage grows larger and larger with each stack, so the extra stack really does help
