And elites ends up being preferred over maniacs as the only maniacs you'll end up hitting with it are dreg ragers
You're better off doing elites with the flak, as that covers all enemies that could be in a mixed horde, and they're the ones that would take the longest to kill, gunners, shotgunners, both ragers, maulers (since the dot damages their center mass of flak so it's great against them)

Zealot can more consistently make use of the finesse damage cuz they crit a TON due to their tree, and can double up with duellist which is basically precog but in talent form
Mercy killer only has half the potential bonus, does nothing if you miss the head (precog can still deal big damage if it's a crit to the body), and requires at least 1 hit before it can work per enemy, zealots have a harder time cuz you need a crit with either scourge or fleshtearer, or lacerate (which is already a bad idea), vs vets having a talent that gives it to them regardless what the hit does
