Scriptures would allow you to cleanse past the current wound, grimoires prevent you and your teammates from taking corruption from them.
Would place that aura higher up in the bracket of usefulness, for sure.

A lot of people don't like their own flaws and look for the easy way to feel "normal", which is by bringing others down with them so they are on the same level
It becomes less about overestimating and more about talking big to make others feel small
It comes across as an inflated ego either way, but I believe it's a form of lashing out against something they don't want to admit themselves
I would do it myself in the past and unfortunately in the present at times, where I'd be frustrated about not being able to do better and find someone to cast blame because it's easier than swallowing the fact that I was not performing as I wanted
So it's easier to manipulate "I'm underperforming" into saying others are underperforming, that way everyone is underperforming and it can fall into the "when everyone's super, no one is"
