It still exists, but there is a mode for the min maxers, and if you're not having fun in the base game then you unfortunatly may be one of those people, and if you're one of those people and also arent good enough mechanically to hang, then the game is goijng to feel grindy and super un fun. All the wepons even with unoptomized stats are fully capable of running through all the content in the game.

Darktide isnt a mindless grind, if you're good enough you can do pretty much whatever you want as long as you're level 30

That's the case why i dropped Lost Ark, the gameplay and raid bosses are awesome, but RNG grind is absolutely atrocious, and it's either insane grind (5+ alts) or insane P2W.
Darktide is not that extreme, but both are the same in terms that you can wash 40-60 hours of your time right down the toilet without getting anything in return. In Lost Ark case it could be 1 month worth of resources.

What I'm hearing is that people dont like where we are on the spectrum. You can either have complete choice over all weapon perks, and all weapon stats, at that point there isnt a purpose to RNG at all because its avaliable natively. Or you have the opposite where you get the opportunity for every single aspect of the weapon to be augmented by chance, and then you naturally run into the issue of potentially never getting what you want. I think the constant grind for perfection and the almost impossibility of it is intrinsic to what it means to be human. The struggle feels good. If you couldnt complete all elements of the game without perfect weapons, then I'd agree. But you can, so I dont.

It lacks synergy.

• Shroudfield doesn't work with chain weapons very well
• Zero damage blessings on weapons
• The build puts emphasis on durability, but it doesn't include Bleed for the Emperor, and Scourge+Enduring Faith is inferior to Blood Redemption+Second Wind if you don't have neither Sred nor Blazing Piety
• No Maniac but mk.15 is a weapon you want to have all the attack speed you can get with
• 12% ability regen is not that much when you don't use any cooldown reduction in your build
