@true kindle josho called you mum, congrats i guess

My list is
A| DS1 - Elden Ring (exploration) - Sekiro(combat)
B| DS2 - DS3 - DeS - Elden Ring (everything else)
You rate Dark Souls 2 over Dark Souls 3...?
... what...?
2 has different strengths
i dunno if it's still available, but you could straight up stream bloodborne on pc through their psnow service

2 has levels I actually prefer beyond the gankyness
Ds2 is the best game in the trilogy
3 has more strengths than 2 lol
I'm gonna need some context for this one chief
I haven't even played 3 and I know it's better than 2
3 does have some great levels, my favourite part was Cathedral of the Deep
Yeah I really like the Deacons
...?
One of my favourite bosses in the game
....?!
I do not require "hard", I want a unique experience
Every boss being the same reaction test is boring
I like when Souls gets weird
That's fair
He was trying to say stan renamed 3 mods now, but said mums instead
Like the run up to Radahn was really fun, mixing up Torrent and rolling while charging with an army
I recommend the video I linked to explain my feelings but it's just that variety is needed
If every boss is a hyper aggressive reaction test it gets tiring
I like gimmick bosses
"I havent played it but its better"
I have seen playthroughs of 3, and I know I want to play it. I just never have the money
Not inaccurate tbh
2 just fucking sucked
I'm not saying 3 is worse
I'm saying 2 has elements I like more while 3 has elements I like more
So I can't put one over the other
Each game has something unique to it that's fun so I don't mind if someone says their favourite is X
Do you like bosses? 3
Do you like the world design? 1
ah fuck
Do you like builds and online? 2
I think elden ring needs even more godskins to fight
Ds2 is the only souls game with a worthwile new game plus
That too
DS2 is the one game that managed to make me do NG+
I never do NG+ for the other games
I find it more fun to start from scratch
Watching someone soul level 1 no weapon upgrades fight the godskin duo was painful
the only game I really enjoyed doing NG+ on is BB and DS3
Dumbass rolled too early
space skyrim
maybe DS1 but not by much
should've leveled ADP
Also an aspect of the series
Everything is so EPIC now
What I like in DS1 is how much less god-like you are
Ac6 filtered alot of souls players
played DS1 on the switch over covid lol, it was amazing, first souls game
Elden Ring I have 3 different particle effects and insane moves while in 1 I felt like a normal person surviving and then becoming a demigod
please sony
the map design absolutely blew my mind in 1
give BB and DESR a pc port
I'd be fine with just a DES port
I would be fine with a DESR port if they allowed me to change the music
in 1 you only need the zweihander you find next to firelink
Changing unnecesary stuff in demon souls for some reason
The new music is so much worse
The fat official is the most outragious change
Again it's the effect of how hyped the series is
I dont really care for the DES soundtrack besides storm king and Old King Alant
Before it was good now it's all EPIC
You don't start with those, though. It's the same journey no?
and i prefer the new versions of them over the old but music is subjective
The character creation music is extremely good
just be a pro like me and find the black knight greatsword from the first couple kills and then dump everything into strength
it really is
Generic orchestra number 50
why do games give the character creations good music
Kinda but ER is way faster and gets more insane
Like using the Zwei in 1 is still normalish but in ER I can get a teleporting sword in like 30m
BG3s "who are you" song is great but you only hear it in creation
That weapon is easy mode and I love it
I will say I wished they did more music tracks like the harpy music

DS3 and BBs soundtracks are the only ones I listen to on the regular
Did you hear the Betrayal version of Down by the River?
Bloodborne has British vampires that fall in love
I think?
BG3 is wild because the best tracks are named shit like "Rivington ambient music 3" and aren't on the official soundtrack at all
I have to listen to it
Even the harpy music is the same it's so weird
DS2>3
vampires can't be British
my hot take for the day
I hope the soundtrack guy makes the ENTIRE ost
Each game has:
A good menu theme
A good hub theme
like 2 boss themes
and that's it for memorable music for me I listen on the regular
also ER suggs
I really dislike ER's music
What the fuck yes they can
Thank God for youtube ost uploaders lol
Most vampires are British wdym
but im withholding judgment until DLC because DLC made every game better
Gets copyright struck

Nah they don't
Hai dudu two got struck down
fromsoft giving Laurence the best music but one of the worst fights in the game
Or at least. Slow walkthroughs // ambient music doesn't
My reasons is that I've heard the same type of music as it so much that it's dull
They already did similar music for DeS - 3
I vastly prefer Sekiro's music over ER's for example
They nuked infinite wealth soundtrack uploads off of youtube
did yall see OW2s new hitboxes
all of DS3s themes are bangers besides like oceiros
I'm still in the boat that people should he encouraged to play durge first
Funny hitboxes
If you like the BG3 OST I recommend Divinity's 2 OST
Durge is just Custom but with a backstory and makes it the real BG3
Radahn, Foreskin, Dragons, Flaccid saxophone, and main theme are all major bangers, and Altus plateau, leyndell, and elphael are alltimers for ambient ost
when's the next DT music
The ambient musics were eh to me
I do like the main menu, character creation, and Roundtable hold
all of the ancient dragon fights are great
Tekken 8 ost
What
My favourite boss theme is actually the Great Ancestor Spirit or whatever
Music
It felt different
Oh yeah goated.
Also Necrom ost
Otherwise after playing the series so much, epic choir is just ok
All dragon fights having the same goddamn track
They shouldve edited ekzyke's and azula's track
I would enjoy the godskin theme more if I didnt have to fight so many of them
Black knife assassin fight music and generic "formidable foe" filler boss music are also surprisingly good
fuck the feral dragons I hate those fights besides azula
Trade offer: how about respawning ones
gonna die
I didn't play dark souls so ymmv I guess
Azula has the fuckoff blade that vigor checks you
adula there we go
Yeah I bet for new people it's really cool
the catacombs ambient music is good too
Just imagine hearing similar music for 3 games
a dragon that wields a magic greatsword is peak
also elden ring has the probably the most ridiculous main menu theme
It's great
And they get better every time?? Amazing
its so fucking loud
I thought it was mostly downhill, though that could be over exposure
I get why people like it, I just want to hear something different
Like Ancestor Spirit

how many people did not do Rannis path first
Not me lol
Holy dragon or deathblight dragon in the dlc
I did her thing because she gave mf directions
me
The one questline I didn't need a guide because FromSoft is stupid
the lady who gave me hugs gave me hugs
lol
the one theme that has yet to be topped for me is ludwigs
the insane first part then the amazing holy blade part
Imagine what she could do with four hands at once yknow what I'm saying? Of course I did her path first. Who else am I going to listen to, fucking Goldmask? Mf wearing Luffy's strawhat on his face I ain't taking shit from him dawg. Look at my spiritual advisor I'm going to jail
I think Gwyns is my favourite of the series
well
ludwig is also the best fight they ever made
It's hard choosing between them
I love gwyns but I like the spin that soul of cinder does to it
I quite like Goldmask
rennala's music is great too
sucks I have to fight him at 30fps
the theme and gameplay integration is peak
Yeah it's a respectable version
Hmm
I never interacted with the uh, annoying dude outside the start, as soon as he said I had no bitches I murdered him
My favourite theme would be hmmm
Varr
Hmmmmmmmm
I actualy dont know
you're not missing out on much unless you want to shank other players
Mohg has a good theme too
Now the real music question
Best hub music
Dracula type beat
in fact you literally cant even complete his quest without shanking other people
My favourite is probably Majula
oh, meh
cant do it because im playing with mods offline lul
Nihil!
It's either Firelink or Majula
They added an NPC for offline players
Ye
Yeah that's what I did
You can do it to get a +10 somber quick
you dont even need to kill the players btw if you just invade it counts
ER's open world made me go
I don't particularly care for pvp stuff in souls, just wanted to run around and explore
ER had great visual world design
I used to be pretty active and obviously a pretty big deal in the Elden Ring discord so obviously I know these things (I am very smart)
visual sure, but its telling that the best parts of the game are the legacy dungeons
I hate ER pvp due to the fact they need to have a summon with them
the open world is just weak gameplay wise
Exactly
I liked the underground segments
i dont think ive played a single open world game where i went "yeah the open world made this better"
Also I think Limgrave is probably the best area
esp for a game like souls where enemy placement and player approach angle was very intentional in older games
first place I went was siofra river well near the start and I was blown away
Can you imagine Skyrim as a linear game? I can't.
that place was dope
skyrim isnt ag ame
its just a modding platform
so no i cant imagine skyrim as a game period
Opinion denied
ER open world is good, this is coming from someone who is pretty over open world games
Also the horse allows you to abuse them
ER open world is good
ER has benefited and suffered from its opened world
I dont think I've ever been blown away by a games open world outside of ER
Who the hell thought we should reuse Godrick
its full of like not great bosses as a result but the exploration is very fun
I guess BG3 is up there
I guess DS1 counts
there is some great optional bosses in ER as well
ER open world allowed me to play and enjoy it in the first place. The inflexible and demanding level design with enemies the game doesn't let you circumvent without dealing with them and the long distances between bonfires made me quit it early on
like placiudax or however
DS1 isnt open world either, its just a 3d metroidvania
In DS1 specifically oops
Metroidvanias are just open worlds with ability requirements
eh
then every game is open world just with cutscene requirements
jk
placi is prob my fav dragon but thats not really a high bar
Forti is mine
After replaying 1 it's good beyond Lost Izalith
The exploration could've been better if there were more rewards from the small locations. Getting spells when you're primarily melee kinda sucked
The 50% of the game is bad is BS as criticism
Placudisax lightning spear nuke is the hardest attack I've seen in a game bar none
Turns the mf sound off
that's part of it, but I just found any engagement in then open world extremely lacking
See I quite liked that
One of the hardest bosses in fiction I love everything about the fight
Then by 3 they placed them everywhere
Yesssss
me casually forward dodging into a literal nuke
the best boss in ER is still godfrey and horah loux
It doesn't feel like a trip if I can teleport everywhere immediately
like, i dont like feeling like the entire game is just a sprint to the next boss
hot take but i dont even like souls bosses very much compared to the enemy encounters throughout the stage design
and every enemy encounter in the open world is run past them with horse lmoa
It was pretty much a space to go from point A to B. Some small distractions around but eh replaying Elden Ring kinda sucks for me.
That's what I dislike about the newer games
They felt area focused rather than boss focused
like
ER went back to area focus for some parts which I really liked
maybe its just me
so many builds to try
i actually feel the opposite
like sticking the res points/bonfires right next to bosses
In some parts
figuring how to efficiently navigate your salty runback was part of the fun
now u just throw yourself at fog door
You're right in that regard
i approach it very differently because of that personally
DS2 run backs were the worst in the series
some still had runbacks
At least it's not DS2
dying feels like it doesn't matter, im just bossrushing
besides like Aldrich's
stakes of marika are goated
and i dont miss it being oops all runbacks
Best thing ER gave me? Power stance whips and whips not feeling like shit
Dying is almost a joke in ER with how little you lose and how you can just die since damage numbers are off in the later parts
yeah
Hell at least Demon Souls gave me actual fear
like there's no tension
i better be a damn joke with how the bosses act sometimes
Yah but then you miss a lot of shit by running past it too fast to see it. The game invites you to walk around so you can spot hidden entrances to crypts and shit and challenges you with enemy encounters by doing so, but also gives you the option to sprint around on the horse in relative safety, giving the player a sense of control and agency that allows newcomers who find DS too stressful/unforgiving a better state of mind from which to tackle the challenge and slowly get into the deep end of the pool
when i enter a boss arena
It's very smart
before i had a lot of tension
Past Morgott imo is generally frustrating
the ds2 devs were evil with the secret ring you get in ng+ if you didnt die during your playthrough
and then creating the gutter
Now that's impressive
whip builds scare me in pvp
i get that, but you also have to acknowledge something is lost when im spending 90% of the game falling asleep because im just riding on horse to next boss
As they should. Bleed/Cold go brrr
I think DS2 had some of the worst where it felt like too much
Skill issue I didn't fall asleep once. Take more amphetamines or something
i will say sometimes it was outrageous
but i enjoyed them
lul
even the outrageous ones
And that's ok
For legal reasons this is a joke
but keep in mind
my favorite part about every game
is the swamp of defilement/blighttown/gutter in the game
and that's also why i dont like 3
they took it away from me
yea ER open world invited you to explore shit, i was down for it, most other open worlds i just nod off
imagine not eating boiled crab
I've come to be extremely bored by it
ER lake of rot had me questioning my sanity a few times trying to find everything in it
navigating shaky terrain in complete darkness and fear of something striking from the shadows is peak souls
then there is the boss fight in the middle of it
a fucking dragon knight soldier in the lake
ill never forget in ds1
Lol yeah
That was wild
Rewarding tough
Banished to the tomb of the giants
Though
when i fucking got cursed and had to climb ALL THE WAY BACK UP TO BELL GARGOYLES to uncurse myself
the dragon knight ontop of sofia river is bad enough
that was funny
holy shit fuck DS1 curse
It was great
especially the almost guaranteed one in the seeth encounter
i like the punishment
In ER farming those archers for their armor set in the snowfield was hell. Why are they placed that way, fire as fast as they do, hit as hard as they do and tanks enough that they don't fall over from 1-2 hits
it makes it feel like an adventure and not a video game
You need stuff to make you go DAMN IT
when there's no consequences its just a video game
That whole follow ranni's quest -> find lake of rot -> explore cloister area -> find fucking ASTEL sequence was godlike exploration design
@true kindle whats a good ogryn melee
I agree
The path and areas were great
MK3 club, Mk5 shovel, MK4 cleaver, shield
after ER I've gone back to play through with lightning in all the games I can
I got to that area, and came back the next day
i hope its not controversial to say tho
Oh yeah an issue with ER
I think it's too big
i love the absolute fact that you can go straight to astel the top of liurnia and the deathblight roots from killing radahn
the best game they made was BB
but DS1 sucks me back into the darkmoon builds
The world is so big that I was sick of it by Snowfield+
This is true
that's because its filled with nothing and running past enemies
I started skipping stuff when I got there
its just tedious
im just waiting to get to the next legacy dungeon every time
rather, its quaint at first, and i really liked the lmao teleport to caelid chest
but that was the peak of "interesting open world" to me
See I don't even like those
I don't like Haligtree, Farum Azula, and Sol Castle
I know I'm insane
tbh me neither
but idk if its just cause iw as sick of the game by then
in general
Stormveil goated
the game just got less enjoyable as i played it over time
it'll depend on how much you like or dislike traversal, which is a big part of open world games
I love Farum azula
I absolutely loved just riding around on not-roach
also the capital is great
elden ring atleast has stuff to find
before being ashed
unlike ubisoft
I also really love just driving around in cyberpunk
climb another 100 towers peasant
It's one of my favourite moments
The travelling somewhere or nowhere in particular really compels me
v.4
I fucking love driving through a city in the night
it must be because i hate driving irl ๐
Most of the loot was bloody magic or pokemon you couldn't or wouldn't use
idk I find driving irl pretty stressful because of the ability of some chucklefuck to disable me for life by pulling out of a junction without warning
i just liked exploring, i didnt care if i got loot out of it
I ignore so many catacombs now
but in a vidyagam there's none of that
i absolutely despise that the mirrah greatsword moveset is only on 2 greatswords in elden ring
i hate driving but enjoyed exploring ER's world
The overworld, yes
It's micro dungeons, no
The catacombs are annoying because they're like dark souls
Very few catacombs felt worth it
man
by the mountaintops of the giants in ER I'd kinda realised that one crypt was much like another
i liked all of it
i didnt care to explore because the story was dull as hell to me
I really like the story and lore but that's because I don't watch lore videos
and DS3's story was probably the best part about it
The joy is figuring it out myself
yeah same
but idk in ER its like
"and then this god fucking killed that god and then the other god was like this" and im like ok then
everyone being not-hollows because lmao rune of death felt like a poor excuse to just rehash the same enemy type too to me
I have a different interpretation of the events so it's interesting talking to people about it
ERs story felt like it lacked any progression in the world
okay i have rolled the worst possible club

like
i mean that's miyazaki's whole thing, the story is done that way based on him reading western fantasy as a kid while not having a great grasp on english, pieced together histories and such
I enjoyed that a lot actually. The mythology of it
For instance I do not think the Greater Will is an Outer God
Or that Shabiri slandered the nomads
it would be more interesting if the enemies actually talked! if they had loyalties to certain gods and whatnot
For their first open world for this style, they didn't do shit except for the very end after maliketh
That would be cool
but instead it just feels like im exploring not-dark-souls
with a lazy excuse of "oh but they're kinda crazy because nobody dies but this totally isnt souls"
like man
I LOVE BB mobs
But it's too much like Souls
since they actually yell at you
and tell you to fuck off from yharnam
even that little thing makes them feel different
Melina barely shows up
the only dlc info we have is that miquella image
they have several unresolved things
"this town's finished...!"
She shows up early
Basically disappears and only if you go to churches and the FF area
Then the ending
like miquella's body the gloam eyed queen and godwyn
Lies of P pretty cool though
LIES OF P IS GOATED
idont mind mythology, its not like DS didnt have mythology, but it just feels so detatched from everything you're doing and barely matters
ER should've had way more NPCs and talking
just some petty feud in the background that has barely anything to do with the game
Oh god oh fuck
๐ค
The Roundtable Hold should've had a bunch of Tarnished
Then if you got Volcano Manor, you actually kill people you know
Not just Tarnished you don't know or heard of
either way the dlc will be big
Instead of being DS4 it should've deviated
Also why isn't that Hold lower floor a PvP arena
idk you can find and then best up the gods that the game talks about beforehand. It all felt meaningful to me. They set the scene before you get there and find out what caused this wracked tapestry of a world you find and the strange suspended state of war and decay that it's in, like an Olympian limbo
slave knight gael was the best boss to end the dark souls trilogy with
The only reason I would want a ds4 is so darkmoons can get there fucking blue ball back
DS2 is just YOU WILL DIE and FIND CURE
two nobides fighting each other at the end of the world for something that doesnt matter anymore
peak
But yeah the series is better off ending with 3
well
nah, I think ds2's was fine, it was just a different approach
it was all about memory loss and forgetting why you even came here in the first place
which you did by the end
I think it should've had more with the Giants at least
you're busy running errands to be the ruler and in the first place you never even came for this
the age of fire went on for so long that when you fight gael your brought into the future and every kingdom is just buried under ash
I just think a lot of it's imagery is not useful
idk if you thought my "nobodies fighting each other" thing was an insult
So is ER though. Every slide is relevant to a boss you fight or the overall world state. You can see the consequences of each event played out in the open world around you
every dark souls game shouldve finished with the age of darkness
i didnt
Like the whirlwind water is very cool but never comes up ingame
more context on the situation
Yeah I like it too
Ah yes my fav boss the malicious ass eater
also drangleic castle being visible
ya
Boss or questgiver
vague is the name of the game
But they should not be just me sitting on a throne with a different sky
only sekiro really has anything concrete
Rannis breaks that and I think thats why people do it
BB is pretty concrete
I mean plunging the world into darkness isn't vague
hell
There's vague and then there's reusing a scene over and over with different colours
Souls 3 is concrete
ranni's breaks the cycle but still has vagueness
ranni isnt even good lmao
Ranni and Flame have cool cutscenes
Yeah people weirdly defend her
she killed godwyn and infested the caverns with deathblight
Despite her horrible actions
Same with Marika
But "Greater Will" evil or something blah blah
And even his bullshit is relevant because it centers the oppression of the Omens and the ... Uh... Winged gobliny dudes that people used as servants. Which is emblematic of the systematic, schematic, dividing fascism of the golden order, which is important to raison detre for the Frenzied Flame
ranni is the best of the a slew of bad options, there's no happy endings in these games
perfect golden order is the true ending
Or Perfect Order
I need more from soft games using outer cosmic beings
But that's too vague as well
nah, i say this not having picked her ending even
but im p sure ppl said the ending was mistranslated
she was trying to help
or something
golden order fundamentally not a great time either
the formless mother and astel
Yes
The Order sucks
Ranni's ending is functionally divine anarchy
Would your outlaw name be Peggy the Pirate
Yes but the Moon I don't trust
i prefer Peggle thank you
She removes the hold of the Elden Ring over the lands between entirely and fucks off to the stars for a millennium iirc
It's similar to what Melina wants
She doesn't really remove it, she just doesn't make it tangible and rules directly
Souls, order, and the ring exists just far away
i wonder if we do have to fight melina as the gloam eyed queen
doubt it
๐ค
Perfect Order as I understood it was basically the Protestant Reformation over the Catholic Golden Order
Also someone said earlier that the rune of death is related to the not-hollows but that's a misconception imo
shouldve given the rune of death to godrick
yeah the age of death ending just means people can actually die instead of being put into the tree
no, i was saying
dung eater ending is the worst possible ending imaginable
the whole backstory leading up to the game is that the rune of death got fucked so nobody could die, aka, their excuse to just make the enemies "hollows but not really" again
not referring to the ending for age of death
ranni stole the rune of death to kill godwyn and somehow fucked up even more after that
But you put Death back regardless of ending
since godwyn is now the source of deathblight
the literal shitpoo ending
pretty sure age of death ending is just "skeletons are people too"
i could be wrong though
What is Peggle
the ending was confusing
It's vague in the annoying sense
marika plays her part as well, she goes tear it all down mode
nah its just people can actually die now iirc
since during the age of the erdtree you couldn't die
But isn't that every ending since you are required to use the Death Rune?
The rune of death is destined death, which is the rule that all living things -- including gods -- must die. It is what Malenia removed from the Ring to ensure the eternal and unassailable nature of her and her dynasty's rule. It is why the assassins needed a fragment of it to assassinate Godwyn, and why the deathroot that sprouts from his corpse reverses death where it spreads and returns dead things to unlife. The peasants and shit you find in the world where long-lived because of the Erdtree's blessings instead, which have been diminished because of the Elden Ring being shattered, and that shattering is why everyone is a mute zombie. The rune is not involved with them
imo anyway
Death was an initial part of the design of the Ring until Marika messed it up
we need it to burn the erdtree
i genuinely hope that there is a flashback sequence in elden ring where we fight in the shattering war
thats why every ending gets it
I really wish they showed more of the war
since the trailer was fantastic
Oh yeah Marika is the queen oops
the dlc should have it
like the army being pelted by giant ballista's
malenia was a sore loser
I remember it because America is an empire
Marika is an empress
Marika
'Merica
couldnt handle being defeated by radahn so she spreads scarlet rot all over the landmass
not far off considering marika colonized in the name of the order basically
I donโt like this
ER lore gets really interesting when you try to figure out why Marika turned on the Greater Will, why Radagon is a part of her and why he came into existence, and why he opposes her actions and acts as her jailor
What's interesting is that there must've been way more gods for the Godskins to exist
My headcanon is that she removed Death to help not be skinned like the rest
Radagon and hoarah loux are legends
I'm of the camp that Radagon existed separately until the merge and wasn't just a mask
where did it say that ppl didnt die even before the rune was removed
Due to the dialogue in the bedroom
cause i think fia returning death to ppl is a misconception
marika removed death to ensure the order is everlasting, same themes as dipshit mcfireage from dark souls
Godakins are old. They killed the gods that existed before Marika became a God. Much like how the ancient dragons and their god (now fled) predated Marika
literally during her questline all she talks about is how skellies are discriminated against
It is
she likes the skellies
omg ER is just the dark souls of elden ring
Sure just I could see it being a bonus reason why she wanted to change Death
What are even the implications of fia dying
Her mending rune is about including the undead -- those returned to "life" by deathroot -- into the golden order, enshrining their right to exist
I like to think the dragons and beastmen served the Greater Will
Nothing else imo
miyazaki likes his death is an important part of life themes
Since she gives you the rune of death wouldnt her plan fall apart when you just dont use it
I do have no idea where the Snake God came from
Iirc its speculated that dragons are devolving because the erdtree is ontop of the crucible
yeah but she hugged you
could you really betray her like that
๐
So primordial energy is weakened
Yes
I for one do not need physical touch
Men of this age:
OMG you gave me a hug! Slay queen and let's make an Age of Death
exactly
It's pathetic /s
no u
The Erdtree is the Crucible
Just it's original form
The parasyte theory I do not believe
Well idk. We don't know anything about human societies before Marika, outside of their burying rites (topside sarcophagi, lampwood to guide the dead to the spirit world). But there are item descriptions that explain how Marika bestowed longevity on her citizens through the Erdtree, and all of the dialogue surrounding Destined Death suggests to me it exclusively concerns the immortality of Marika and her demigod children
crucible knight builds are fun asf btw
Destined Death is for gods
Death is for everyone
Oh and the Carians and astrologers predate Marika
And Giants worked with them
Why the fuck is this chat about everything except zealot
At least friendly neighbors
The GOD EMPRESS DECREES IT
Psykers, all of you.
im pretty sure people still died during the order, though
because sometimes conversations take other directions
mentions ppl dying for example
and you can't talk about the same one thing all the time
nah they just got fed to the tree
maybe marika just decided u died when you were good to fuck off
they "died" in a sense
The original deathflame is very interesting to me
Yeah because they were killed. Marika also used the Night's Cavalry as divinely ordained death squads to reap the lives of heroes and champions when she decided their time had come
Very totalitarian.
Didn't Margit use them?
Margit led them, but he was loyal to the Order. I'm sure he just did what he was told, which he continued to do during the Shattering
Kill challengers and pretenders to the throne
I don't know enough of the lore but I assumed authoritarian
Totalitarian requires a desire to control every aspect of a citizen
I think Marika felt that way. Or was compelled to enforce that. She demanded faithful obedience and, for lack of a better word, species purity from her citizens. Those touched by the Crucible and its original, life-blending powers were oppressed
I could see that
she did a crusade
poor margit
then changed her mind much later
Yeah I see that, but more extreme
Yup, it's what if the Pope was a Superhero
battlemech
Gods in ER are not gods but just chosen prophets/avatars
Outer Gods are actual supernatural crap
And the Greater Will is either the first among equals or unique
Marika and the Golden Order are an embodiment of the status quo of life as ordered and quantified and accounted for. Just like God demanding two of each species on the Ark, no more and no less. The Frenzied Flame embodies the opposite, and a return to primordial soup and one-ness of all living things vs division and categorization based on immutable qualities and taxonomy
But, again, that's my take
It's a neat take
frenzied flame is hella evil
It's nihilism
is it really evil
Yes
kale asked you to soup everyone in his (cut) quest
can you really say no to a friend
๐
Yes
the despair I feel when i remember they cut kales quest
The Frenzied Flame is a freedom fighter that says "they can't oppress us when we are no longer different from them. Let's destroy the world and become One"
shabriri took over yura's body
could have just said ogryn
truuuu
https://youtu.be/M62pYatbyHo?si=WZQ01YqexhCtlJLH this right here is the best music in elden ring and its not even a boss theme
This is a clean rip with no background music or footsteps of the Frenzied Flame Merchant's song from Elden Ring! I am uploading this because the entire section where you go find the frenzied flame was my favorite part of the entire game!
My idea on the Greater Will is that it's more deist than theist
The very notion of division and order is how existence as we know it exists.
I took there being multiple Outer Gods who either served/partnered with the Greater Will after creation or went against it via domination or destruction
The Lands Between is one of MANY worlds (ending arena) of MANY trees of the Greater Will
banished to play with p13 ogs
The Greater Will has influence over the Outer Gods as the needle you use is GOLD
Miquilla was interested in unalloyed gold, aka pure gold
shabriri is genuinely dumb
This also ties into the Ancestor Spirits and Followers, whose related item descriptions indicate that the normal cycle of life and death in the Lands Between was one of death and rebirth, the corpse and life essence of one dead creature directly feeding into the birth of a new one. But the Golden Order ordained that the worthy dead were interred next to the Erdtree's roots instead, and for the souls (life essence) to be absorbed by the Erdtree. No rebirth in the natural way -- the process was hijacked by Marika. Or the Elden Beast, ultimately
comes up with a scheme to accuse the merchants of heresy
the merchants get accused and they all fall to chaos
truly a scheme as dumb as tzeentch's are
I don't think that happened
Yeah I agree I think
I think the slander and the merchants are two separate events
man the merchants are a sad story
it was the golden order that did it
it was explained in the questline they cut for kale
They deserved it
Genocide is wrong
But slander requires them to realise you were wrong
the first mechant you find in limgrave
I do think Shabriri slandered the nomads but he did it because he knew they would summon the Frenzied Flame
The Order wouldn't do it because the merchants prove them right
So Shabiri wouldn't be known for slander if it was just that
so true
Also the Nomad Ashes state that they had the flame and it followed them
Kale and the others have it despite not being part of the Grand Caravan
and then they worship shabriri essentialy proving the order right
Oh we're being genuine?
Yup, so it isn't slander to them
So the reputation of Shabiris slander must be from somewhere else
? idk what this means ngl I just really enjoy the mechants song
My guess is against the Order as he went Flameo
flameo hotmen
Oh I thought you were joking about it I heavily dislike that song.
Frenzied Flame's insanity lives in the eyeballs, and Shabriri has none in depictions of him post-slandering. I think that's meaningful. those who are affected can't see, but those who couldn't see to begin with can see the Flame
im gonna throw you into a pit
At least I don't have shitty music in the pit
my favorite thing about shabiri is that he was just a dude that everyone hated so much
shabriri had his eyes ripped out because he was the most reviled man in history
The flame resided into his eyeballs AFTER he was made blind, yeah

like he just sucked so bad he became an avatar for a shitty god
vyke is also on the list of NPCs I love but we dont see much of
as much as i hate the frenzied flame i genuinely hope all of the cut quests return including kale's quest
he was the main guy before us
Hyetta is also blind, but can see the Flame, and consumes warp-touched eyeballs to fuel her True Sight
I took the Flame as the belief of nilihism preys on the hopeless
hmm so full of "grapes"
hyetta can see a small glimmer of flame when she eats an eyeball
Don't be a simp guys or you'll go frenzied
Shabriri is like Hyetta, but an orchestrator instead of a minister imo
shabriri 100% preys on the downtrotten
but its very surprising there arent frenzied omen
vyke fucked a dragon before he fell to the flame bro was a real one
The Frenzied Flame targets groups in weakness (that Shabiri helped facilitate) to gain power and achieve it's insidious ends
He doesn't just prey on the downtrodden, he schemes to bring the Frenzied Flame's plans about
Yup
he also did it to protect his maiden
i love that vyke didnt turn into the lord of frenzy because of his armor
only his brain and eye did get melted
Dumbass forgot to take off his clothes and went mad instead of chad
The Three Fingers are interesting
imagine in the dlc we just get 4 fingers or a hand
They existed back in the old days didn't they
I hope we see more of the formless mother
The Beastmen had 5 finger hand imagery
That's why Hyetta has to be there to tell us to strip naked. Vyke lost his finger maiden -- he had nobody to tell him.
Also more dragon shit because this games lightning is awesome
The Fingers are like coders with no forward thinking
legit the only refference of the formless mother is bloodflame and mohgs spear
"wait crap I didn't specify the condition"
Dragonkin soldiers are cool. Wish the weapons were a bit better and they were more stuff of their's
Also forgot to add with Turtle Pope
I think the reason the Order and Academy could be together as creation and fate are orderly, so Greater Will
That's how I imagined they justified it
The dragonkin soldiers lore is gross ish
2 dlc being merged into 1 big dlcs
I do question why the Giants were killed
My headcanon was that Marika made up the religious reason so she could genocide the Giants to prevent them rising against her
Since they had the Flame that could burn the tree and start a new era
The tree was always destined to burn (pyromancy spells and a shield I believe)
Hell you could argue that the Erdtree was burned multiple times with all the ash around
Unless there are more giants I don't think we'll see it again
elden ring flashback dlc where you prevent the shattering and night of the black blades
Oh god more time travel
Dark souls had so much of that
Including bonfires fucking with ime or something
DS2 was originally a time travel plot
Where you'd befriend the Emerald Maiden as a child and an adult
DS2s development was hell
i genuinely want to see ds2 remade into the orginal game
What crusher blessings should I use in ds2? Iโm running Shadowheart and Wyll as a vengeance Paladins and am using Boone as my companion.
Emperor just dropped this gift for me. Is bleed still on the menu even? Getting up to 11 stacks per hit feels like the kind of meme that could be real
cough Elden Ring
Majula best hub theme
ER is just DS2 2 2
I agree
Has twinblades and power stances. DS2 2
Helicopter man
ER would probably be my favorite one to keep playing...but there's a lot of fluff after you go through everything once
It's DS2 2 2 because SOTFS is DS2 2
"What's in that cave? Oh nothing important to my build? K. Skip."
It's hard picking one but ER is my least replayed
Too big
Same
Even though I do love it. But also past Margit I feel the balance is out of whack
Also Demon Souls but my OG PS3 doesn't work anymore
So I kinda dread anything past him
The balance is so off because it's so free
If you even try doing things "out of intended order" then you can break the difficulty
Which then snaps back at you in the last third
I like Demon's Souls remake. Yes there are some visual designs I don't like but eh it's fine
The music is my least favourite change
It caps at 16 and on top of that Lacerate requires you to drop the big strength of the knife to stack a DoT that won't make up for that loss of weakspot damage.
FT with Scourge and Uncanny will probs provide the best performance if you are looking for bleed.

It's Zealot for Zealotry of the Golden Order and Gwyn
this is the Dark(tide) Souls server now
Some holy gacha imagery to shake it up
Not even looking for bleed specifically, this dumb thing just dropped as is, and I had to imagine, albeit briefly
goes hard
which combat knife do you guys think is better?
The Mk III will be better at the whole single target thing, the Mk VI has some more interesting combos along with kinda-ish better small elite coverage due to the sweeps.
The Mk VI drops a bit of the damage on the stabs, it'll need more stuff up to hit a BP.
just lost a game on vet because a mutie brought me directly into a rager's swing animations on a downed player
it was very sad
the AI planing is getting crazy
I've also noticed enemy gunners hiding behind DH's, and DH's in new and more inconvenient places
we should really get some goodies for killing demon hosts
imo only normal bosses should have a reward tied to them. DH's by default should just be obstacles by design. However I do think there being a side-objective where you kill x DH's would be a good compromise.
actually yeah I like that idea
I do mainly want normal bosses to drop something
watch
you do that
and everyone trigger dh on purpose
"i wanted plasteel"
you are completely correct
now i have the real solution
Exactly. Itโll add more challenge
if you kill DH
the person who trigger DH donates 100 plasteel to the other 3 players
jk
Then Iโll have something to bitch about other than knife users
*everyone reading the above message is one of the few food knife users
ppl already moan about grimoires which are mostly harmless
imagine the intentional DH triggers
grims are an issue on damnation tho
having your health cut in half is something you dont want to happen
Iโve not had much trouble with grims as of late, but it might be that Iโve just stopped caring if we pick them up or not on damnation
I really wish grims and scripts would give something
so its an unestablished rule people dont pick up grims on damnation+
But still itโs rude to pick them up on damnation without asking imo
i dont bother picking them up but idc if people pick them up either
then again i barely play non-mael so i rarely encounter grims either
I do hope they return to the idea of the side objectives being mini-holdouts like they talked about prior to launch. I recall someone bringing up something where you need to get a relic in to bless the grim and holdout before you can pick it up.
Would be a cool addition to missions.
ya
they should be more interesting at least
but yeah
idc if ppl pick them up
maybe they're doing weeklies
and they specifically picked a grim mission to pick them up
and then some qp'er joins and rages at them for it
Could even recycle shit and just slap a bunch of corruptors onto a grim and be required to blow it up
I subscribe to the "I have all the HP I need until I don't" so I really dgaf about grims. If they drop me into the "I'm a walking pane of glass vs. a poxburster" then I'll be a bit ~ but I can avoid that with curio choices.
Which knife do you guys like most?
neither
I'm using the mk6 and I think it's neat
I THINK the original one is better but I haven't build a good one yet
I'm speaking strictly because the heavies are all "assassin"
Where the mk6 has the vertical sweep and then overhead
Punch does jump to the overhead tho
Oh no yeah
I just feel like the other one is just better because you can force out overheads without much added effort
ive only used the mk3
i like the mk3 though
the mk6 i need to try but its a little odd to me because what i would bring knife for is what mk3 is best at
which is just zipping to some prio target with decent boss damage as a bonus
that being said its not the best weapon
it can get the job done but its a consierable amount more work than a lot of better weapons
like even comapred to Thammer which is hard to use has better reward
I have come to find that its using the best stuff that brings succes but rather an overall decently competent team
yeah its just a warning
it might feel bad esp at first/a lot more effort than stuff like hsword
to get potientially similar results
Oh no, is it even worse than the hammer?
I tried the crucis yesterday and i absolutely hated it
uh im not really sure which i would call harder
To be fair the hsword is a little broke
but i would call hammer better
as a weapon
yeah hsword is broken lol
but even like dclaw
This is the problem we have with weapon balance... strong weapons standing out make it harder to judge baseline
like im just making sure hes aware there are both better and easier weapons
so it might feel bad at first
I actually saw a veteran have it equipped in the lobby and thought it looked dope af, but i figured you guys are more experienced with melee weapons
I mean, Declaw is worse against crushers where knife couuuld do better
Also, the knifes mobility imo does make it stand apart from the thammer
Ima try to fit it into an infil build
What ranged weapons do you guys like to pair with a melee that isnt exceptional vs hordes?
For zealot, Flamer
well flamer is an easy pick
kant shotgun is also good
lawbringer can do well with manstopper or scattershot although ive used that set up less
can also bring immo nades
My one decent ranged is a revolver unfortunately
although using them just for a horde feels bit wasteful
revo is very good but i probs wouldnt bring it with mk3 knife
maybe mk6
havent used that one as much
at all actually
Its worth a look
I will say shotgun does have goofy interactions with throwing knife so
(Not my vid but you get the point)
Me neither but my only other option is an agri brauto
Which i suppose isnt bad either
