Speaking of narratives, immersive sims add, on average, long-reaching consequences that change the entire course of how someone will interact with characters, events, etc. An example of this can be players directly missing out on interactions with several characters in any capacity based on their actions in a way that isn't a static presentation of being "barred". more like, "you fucked up this relationship and those people are linked to other people."

You have things like the original deus ex that practically transforms its world around your actions as relevant to a seemingly constantly sliding "scale" between characetrs, factions, events, even basic dialogue interactions.

For fictitious example, you can handle a mission deus ex in a way that essentially forgos whatever preference of the people who want it done right? Maybe the reason why that needed to happen was because of say a hostage or a sentimental thing or whatever. You turning someone into giblets in say, the city square where a community with no means to repair itself gets fucked and the faction that assigned you strictly to not have that happen.

You've now pissed off those people, made it clear that you're of no help and the place you've destroyed stays like that until maybe something else happens.

That's the thing though. It's flat and stops at caches and pickups with sometimes an encounter and a shard. Nothing else really happens though usually. You can follow lines of intrigue that don't even have a shard attached to it and it'll still force itself to stay in its lane of smash and grab. Nothing necessarily changes around you save another footnote in your awareness.

Remember those XBD fucks with the scavs? Literally before that mission the guy that sells those kiddie xbds stayed in jig ji street. after wiping them out, killing some more scavs, I kenw where the guy was and killed him myself.

even after the quest for just interacting with him anyway, similar to many many other npcs, you don't really go anywhere else with something more robust because there is nothing more robust. Killing a key child xbd distributor would definitely reasonably start a chain reaction between yourself, whatever crime fucks are in on it and the ncpd. Nothing.

Like, there's great things in 2077, but it's not unfair to say that when you know more about how the project was handled, how any of these kinds of projects have succeeded in the past and how they were expanded on, 2077 is a dud of a game for really unnecessary reasons.

I liked playing bloodbourne, know I'll like sekiro and elden ring genuinely looks like a mass sort of celebration of everything learned by fromsoft. I like to go at dev franchises sort of like a history thing so I'll have to go through ds1 and all that eventually just ot get a feel for those changes after learning more about the dev and everything else.
